when i transform the rounded cube, i get crashes at random times. of
course, this makes me save after each successful one since i don't know
when it will happen. kinda lame to have to start moray again and
again. is this a documented problem?

dont know if this is related, but i have similar crashes using plugins under
win2k. it seems that the plugin interface code is causing the problem - but
dont quote me on that !!

i will be putting win2k sp1 on in a day or 2 (when i finish the 80mb dl!) so
will see of that fixes the problems

the rounded cube is the only one that crashes and i've got them all. i
can adjust the width, height, breadth, radius (the plugin specific
things) but if i use the standard transform slots, boom, it freaks out.
also, i can't adjust the local coords at all. actually, once i do, it
seems to hold for half a second, and then the cube physically moves to
the point i moved the axes to. currently i want the cube to rotate at a
distance of .2069 from th origin, so i moved the cube to .2069 and then
tried to move the local origin back to the global origin (so it reads
-.2069). it doesn't work. what i did instead was move the cube and
then put it in a union by itself and rotate the union. sloppy in my
opinion.

Hi ryan constantine, you recently wrote in moray.win:

I've never had that plugin crash and I don't think that it that one
that is crashing. I would think that it may be the interaction of this
plugin with other plugins that may be causing this problem.

Blergh. That sounds weird. I've just played with a rounded cube and
there are absolutely no anomalies. It behaves just like any other
normal object. I used the mouse to translate and rotate the cube and
its local coordinates, I edited them both in the edit boxes, all to no
avail. No problems at all.

If you want to help track this down, I suggest moving all plugins
except the roundedcube one out of your plugins folder to another
temporary folder. Then try playing with a rounded cube and see if it
still freaks out. If not, keep adding plugins, one-by-one, playing
again, until you get the strange behaviour.

Moray seems to put REALLY long numbers in the transform area,
like 40+ digits long.
When I quit Moray and restarted, reloaded my file, I got another
error. Moray had replaced the number with "INF00", so POV game me
an error when I tried to preview.

Hi Chuck Roberts, you recently wrote in moray.win:

I'd really like to track this down. Can you guys answer this:

- Is Snap is enabled and if so, what are your Snap settings?
(View|Configuration|Snap).

- Are these rounded cubes in a Group/CSG? If so, is the group
transformed?

- For which transformations does it happen? Scaling? Rotation?
Translation? All three?

- In which views are you transforming the cube with the mouse when
this happens? Just the 2D views? Just the 3D views? Any view?

- Does it happen all the time? Often? Sometimes? Randomly?

- What plugins are loaded (View|Loaded Plugins)?

Thanks,

- Lutz

I just got around to doing what you suggested and found that the
GalaxyMFC.dll file was causing the problems. i checked it twice. for
answers to your other questions, see below:

i don't know what this is about

snap is enabled with the smallest setting allowed (i think it is .001?)

either way i get the crash, csg or not, i don't use groups. i can
transform a csg, but not the cube by itself. the cube always returns to
the origin of the parent.

for sure it happens on rotation and translation, but as i usually use
the cube settings for size, i'm not sure about scale. i seem to think
it was a problem in a previous model of mine, however, so i'd say all
three.

never transformed with the mouse except for moving the local coords.
all transforms done by typing. as for moving the local coords, that
would be top view. didn't try the others since i didn't need them.

> - Does it happen all the time? Often? Sometimes? Randomly?

almost every time. maybe more than 90%?

every one available (except that new moon something which is very beta).

So you're saying that removing the GalaxyMFC.dll the problems went
away?

Oh. By typing? I had always assumed it was a mouse thing. Oh well, let
me check that again.

Well, try as I might, I still can't reproduce this. I am using the
release Build 5298. I have the Galaxy plugin loaded, it says it is
version Ver.0.6 Beta (31/5/00).

I start a new scene.
Click on Create Tab.
Click on RoundCube.
Click in the X component of translation.
Type 1, hit Enter. The cube moves to that pos.
Hit Tab, type 2, hit Enter. The cube moves accordingly.
I change the Width(X) field of the cube.
I type many different numbers into the transform field, the rotate
fields, nothing.
I create a Galaxy and then reselect the cube and type all sorts of
different transform parameters, all the while everything works
perfectly.

Can you please try the above procedure and tell me if the problem
occurs?

did you move the local coords? that's when i get the problem. say for
example i want to move the cube to -.2069 in the Y axis and then rotate
around the global origin. what i do is move the cube by the above
amount (keyboard), then move the local coords by the opposite amount
(using the mouse), unclick the local coord button, key in the rotation,
and blammo it returns the object to the parent's origin. and by the
way, to answer your question in your other post, i removed all plugins
and then added them one by one (restarting moray each time of course)
and GalaxyMFC.dll was the problem. i'm using build 2598, galaxy plugin
says v0.4. that's funny, i thought for sure i had the new one. let me
download the new one and see if problems go away.
