Very, very impressive! I already knew one of your constructions but now I
see your homepage. I see the Copenhagen railway, where I've been myself. The
panorama view is very impressive. Your texturing has improved over time I
can see, but as Daniel said, it's looking somewhat unreal.. Still lots of
praise for the detailed reproductions of these buildings!

Regards,
Hugo

Pehaps, but I don't think I have the patience to render this model with
radiosity. I did some lores experiments with one of the 3.5 betas, and
apart from the fact, that I didn't get anywhere near anything usable, I
did get render times almost 100 times longer than without radiosity.
That translates into more than a year for a final quality hires image,
and that is a bit too long for me.

Eeeek! More than a year!!

You need to get a friend in the IT department of a university so you can
run your renders on a cluster. What CPU/MHz are you using now?

Perhaps the IT person from an architecture dep. could help too, I'm sure
they would be impressed with your work.

Your situation give me an idea, imagine a competition like the IRTC where
the prize was rendering time on a huge distributed cluster, like the one
the Internet Movie Project is setting up.

One guy you could talk to is Paul Bourke, he may be able to help you out.
http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/~pbourke/

I know he does some interesting work with POV and it involves cluster
rendering too, but I have no idea how approachable he is.

More than a year!?! Are you sure? Aside from the amazing complexity your
image does not seem to have any of the usual render time eaters like ISOs,
lots of glass, or photons. I would have been surprised had you said a month.
What resolution are you rendering these at, and what is the speed of your
computer?

1333MHz Athlon.

Even if I could get access to a cluster, I would have to do a lot of
testing to get the parameters right, which could take weeks, and
frankly, after working on the model for a year, I'm getting bored with
it. I wanna work on something new.

The hires images I render are 2700x2025 (that's suitable for my Epson
1520 printer), and I use an Athlon 1333MHz. The interior overview image
of took 4 days and 14 hours at that res, so if the factor 100 is
correct... well, you do the math, as they say :-)

Hmm wow 4 days with no special settings, that MUST be a complex model! How
the heck do you prevent yourself from going crazy after working on the same
model for a year? I start to get anxious after working on an image for a few
weeks. I admire your patience, it really pays off as that is a spectacular
model you have! Well I guess if the slow down is really by a factor of 100
then your right, though I bet you'd find that it's not quite that bad, not
that 6-7 months is any better though:-)

Well, you don't. But if you are insane enough in the first place, to
start on a project of that size, nobody notices the difference =8-}

Impressive work as always. Makes me want to do something as impressive,
but I'm not sure that I have persistence or skills for it...
P.S. In sitemap citadel link doesn't work.

Thank you.

I thought I had tested them all, but obviously I hadn't.
It should work now.
