OK, you wanted it!

This is how I spend my time.

1. Work: computer simulation of ceramics processing
2. Family: A wife and two kids (Hey, thats a lot of time there and I
like it!)
3. Hobbies: Computers in general (programming, networks, C++ ...),
history,
            historic ship models, fishing ...
4. sometimes I also sleep- :-)

I hope your curiosity is healed! ;-)

Marc

P.S.: Ken is right about engineers!

I am a self-employed computer (PC) consultant. I do everything from repair
to programming to making web pages. I also do tech support for various
programs that allow the blind to use computers (when a blind person screws
up a computer, it is _really_ screwed up). I haven't had much time for ray
tracing lately, but it's better to have too much work than too little.

OK, since you all replied to my query, here a few things about myself.

I'm not sure if I should call me "engineer" or "scientist", since I'm
both. I'm (still) working on my PhD at the Center for Sensorsystems
at the university of Siegen, Germany. Besides I work for a company
that produces quality inspection systems based on computer vision.
I'm responsible for the conception of the systems (the design
is done by a collegue of mine) and I'm in charge of keeping our
software straight. I program user interfaces and the algorithms
for image processing.

It's a pity I don't have more time for raytracing. I guess I trace
about 3-5 hours a week. To comensate that, I loiter about in
p.b.i and look at the nice images that my "fellow POVers" produce.

Well, at the moment I'm officially still a student, but most of the time
I'm a self-employed anything-with-computer person. I have even been
called a <shudders> web designer.

At the moment I'm working on a knowledge system in Delphi that uses IE4
to display texts and my own engine for global text searching. Quite neat.

Hobbies: I read a lot (mostly Terry Pratchett), do some more computer
programming (currently a Reversi program) and recently I've given
raytracing a go. Oh, and I go out every now and then...

Philippee

This sounds like one of those "You know when you've been raytracing too
long" jokes.

And Ken's creators gave him access to the "Encyclopedia Britanica"
database and all the supplements

Gotta say, that's one hell of a speech, Ken!

I'm still a student too. Not for long though. I'm a computer science
major, so I don't know if I'd be an engineer or a scientist. Other than
school I do the typical college stuff, and play hockey. For you people
that follow college basketball, We(Michiagn State) are in the final
four. And no I have not participated in any of the 'roits'.

Heh, I buy my groceries in the same store as Nolan Richardson! :)

If you don't see many games you probably have no idea who that is. I see him
on the news every night here, and then when I visit Florida they have 'know
the enemy segments.' It's great to hear my friends there curse Arkansas'
coach. LOL!

Software developer mostly database application is MS Access,
Oracle and soon ASP. It leaves me with less hours to raytrace
than I would like.

As for my 2 cents (1.33 cents after taxes) I am in technical support at one
of those large places that "outsources" tech support, and if I were to say
more "I'd have to kill you," as the party line goes. I want to move into
full time web design and I have a degree in graphic design. It's just a
damn hard field to jump into.

No family, few friends, and since I'm tethered to a phone and four
computers all day (talk about a rendering farm) I find there is lots of
time to play with POV-Ray.
