One way to avoid the problem is to register your copy of Moray; as I, and
others, already have...! The same goes for PSPro - I use that program also
(in the registered version, of course). This is the Moray newsgroup on it's
the povray.org server so I doubt that you'll get much sympathy here for not
registering.

I don't think that's after 30 days, but after a set number of uses..

I'm so Moray reliant (and too cheap to register) that I started getting those
messages only an hour after downloading :)

Not everyone's made of money, ya know. Heck, I'm a student with no source
of income (I'm still in 8th grade and 14). How am I supposed to purchase
the registered copy of Moray (which I LOVE) and Paint Shop Pro (which I ALSO
love!)? Maybe in a few years when I'm allowed to work, yes, but now? No.

Not everyone has money to spend.

In this case: Don't use it!

Just face the facts of live! If you haven't got the money for something,
then you can't have that something!

I am a software developer with only an average income. How am I supposed to
purchase that nice ocean-view condo I saw the other day (which I LOVE) or to
pay for the eight weeks heli-snowboarding in the french alps each winter
(which I ALSO love!)? Maybe in a few years when I've made a fortune, yes,
but now? No.

If anyone around here illegally uses pirated software or shareware after the
allowed trial time, then at least KEEP QUIET about it! Don't go around
giving phoney excuses!

Johannes.

hey guys, I think you are missing the point here. I'm in the 8th grade and
cant afford anything but, I dont know about everyone else but when I do get
money in my pocket I will GLADLY pay for it. I hate to say it but I side
with ian, I dont know about ian but I know I will register. but try to
recall back to the 8th grade where the best job you could get was mowing
lawns for $15 a lawn. Also, if 15% goes to church(GOD has been good to me),
45% to colleg that leaves little of the $20 to spend on a 90$ modelling
tool. also I dont think my parents would be too happy if I spent my life
savings on a modeler

Talk about inflation. I got anywhere from 75 cents to a $1.25 when
I mowed lawns and I am not "THAT" old. I needs to rethink the business
I'm in me thinks.

Hi, Bucky. Let me see if I can phrase it differently than what was
already said regarding Moray registration.

What if the all of the people who agreed to pay you $15 per lawn
mowing job let you finish mowing all of the lawns and then informed
you that even though they agreed to pay you, they really didn't have
the money and that they hoped to someday be able to pay you. In the
meantime, they are still requesting that you continue to mow their
lawns because the grass is still growing. In other words, they want to
continue to use your services free of charge because they don't have
the money. Would you feel any obligation to continue cutting their
grass for free after they'd all agreed to pay you beforehand?

Should Lutz Kretzschmar continue development of Moray for free? If
people want a freeware modeler there is Breeze Designer and POVLAB.
When someone uses Moray shareware they have agreed to pay Lutz the
price specified after a certain trial period. I'm sorry I can't recall
how long the trial period is but I've been paying for my Moray
registrations and upgrades since its MS-DOS days. I'm glad to do so if
it'll encourage Lutz to further Moray development.

Don't take this as a put-down, Bucky. I simply ask you and Ian to
consider the other side of the coin and think about the time and
effort that Lutz and Markus put into Moray. You can continue to use
POV-Ray for free but you might consider honoring the shareware
agreement and remove Moray from your system until you save up enough
to pay for your registration.

If you come to my house and clean up my lawn (cut down and rake the weeds
and put in trash), you'll get $50. If you truly want something, there is
always a way to get it. If my kid was in 8th grade and wanted something and
put out the effort to go earn the $ for it, then he/she can put all of the
$$ earned to it. In 8th grade you shouldn't be concerned about college
tuition.

I totally agree with you. However, I downloaded
Moray when I first discovered povray. I felt that
scripting pov-code would be too difficult, but I
realised that I would need to learn the script to
understand what I was doing. Since then I haven't touched
Moray. I always script. Yesterday I learned that Moray
has Inverse Kinematics so I downloaded to try it out
(which I find very promising!). IK is really the only
feature I find useful to me. Unfortuneatly I can't think
of a reasonable way to scale registration based on the
features I will/will not use. I would gladly pay $20 to $30
dollars for the use of IK but I really prefer to script
in most cases.
If there's a reasonable solution to this, I'm all ears.

Phil
