cudos gos out to Lieut_Data for the lathe editor and me being the
guiney pig
everything but the handle on the candelstick and the box are made in his
lathe editor
this is more of a test so tell me if they are good lathes but I'm not
smart enough to add radiosity and iso thingeys
the orange looks more like an apple
but pretend it looks better

Thats one amazing set of objects -- I LUV the glass effects... very cool

You are right -- the apple / orange could use some work, but not bad
considering its your (4th? 5th) real image!

yeah .. nice scene ...

I have to tell you, that (IMHO) if you tried to produce a glass material
you have failed "completely" ...
But don't cry: The material gives a perfect plastic as I can see it....
Especially the object in the front left looks very convincing ...

Sorry if it should be glass, though .... *g

BTW: I'm sure, you'll be working on the flame, won't you ?

Keep up the good work ...

Why do you say so? Because of the refractive properties of the material?
I don't think they look TOO plastic...

Fernando.

Because, thats what my brain sees ... Maybe, because I've seen such a dish
as in foreground before, that was of some kind of plastic like this one ...

I can't identify exactly, what make it look so, maybe it's the refraction ...
... but also, maybe the highlights, oder the color ? ...
I simply can't stick on an single item, as I've no exact glass-object here,
to compare... But to me, this "plastic" looks perfect ...

That are your thoughts, of course ...

I agree it has a plastic look, more than glassy. But plastic looks good! It
might be improved however to look "really" plastic or "really" glassy..
Though it might not be so simple to do.

It's the first time I see a raytraced *melted* candle and that's really
nice.. To make a flame is not easy, but maybe you should learn from those on
the net.. Because, there are already good code for flames, flowing around.

For a better camera perspective I suggest you use "angle 48" in your camera
statement (my preferred angle) because it distorts the scene less, and makes
it look more "real" IMO.

Regards,
Hugo

I tried to use a flame someone sent me in a previous post
it didnt work too well but its good enough
imo it looks to me too thick to be plastic
as thick plastic looks like frosted stuff

if someone can send me the source for a better flame that would be
greatly appreciated,
if you need to contact me email at lwi### [at] sympaticoca

the texture is

texture {Glass}
interior {I_Glass3}

I know I am flaming monarch but don't flame me :)

BTW, one of the main reasons your orange looks like an apple is that oranges
never pick with a stem and do not have an indented nipple where the stem
connects.
