Hi Folks, me again.
Those of you who think this is a photo, raise your hand. Come on now,
let's get a count. Mmm hmm. Right, you can put them down now. And the
people out there who know a fake Awesome Rolex (a faked fake :-) when
they see one? Ah hah, OK.
Well, let me hear some comments, OK?

	Bye for now,
		Mike Andrews.

Did you by any chance notice the ghosts in your image ? Look at the
point where the water line meets the horizon and then center for the
spot light. I see what appears to me someone that looks like maybe a
French artist with a long pointy mustachio and standing behind and to
his right is a clocked and hooded figure. Again to the left of the
artist is another person possibly a nun or an older woman in a heavy
coat or cloak. Possibly more hiding in there if you let your imagination
go for a while.

I think the scene needs some work but the ghosts were fun.

Here we go: In my opinion your water looks more like boiling mercury
than like water (or more precisely: how I imagine that boiling mercury
looks like). This is due to the fact that the waves are to smooth on
top and the waves are too random. The pigment and finish seem OK, though.

Apart from this, I think that the haze is much too brownish, except
that there is a lot of pollution. However, I really like your clouds.
Keep them like they are.

Since I'm also the author of an ocean scenes, I hope that you don't
find my comments offending. It would be nice to find a way to create
a realistic ocean in POV-Ray without modifying the source code, which
is necessary for my image.

These 'ghosts' don't show up as well in the original TGA, and I only
glanced at the JPG briefly to ensure that the compression hadn't totally
ruined the image. They do show quite well tho', don't they? Which makes
it all the more realistic I suppose. After all you're supposed to see
funny images in clouds and shadows, aren't you? :-)

I think the scene needs some work, too! But it's the closest I'd come to
a good looking scene for a while and I thought I'd inject a little irony
into that Awesome Rolex matter. I mean, the sort of person who would try
to put one over on this group of folks probably would try to do a hand
count over the internet ... and to try twice!?!

Hi Rick,
I see what you mean about the clouds; I need to work on some larger
scale variations. Thanks - I knew something wasn't right and writing
this note has precipitated a couple of possible ideas.
The water - I'm quite happy with finish, but as Thomas says a couple of
replies on it looks like the water is 'boiling' rather than 'rolling'.
Oh boy, am I stupid! I just looked at the code again and saw that I
scaled the normal down instead of up before applying a turbulence warp.
I'm always doing that ... I'll try correcting that.
The atmosphere - the colour is a bit thick below the clouds. I designed
it for a dawn/dusk image and it looked OK so I mostly did a cut and
paste on that. Something else to work on.

	Thanks for the comments,
		Mike Andrews.

I quite like the pigment/finish, although it looks more like I imagine
arctic water to look - deep and cold with a high haze overhead - rather
than the warm sub-tropical sea that would match the sky. The boiling
look I now realize was caused by me scaling the wrong way around a
turbulence warp in the normal - just careless on my part.

The air below the clouds has too much colour - I'll damp it down a bit,
although you always get a little colouring towards the horizon.
The clouds are a little regular as Rick points out. I'll try adding a
little large scale variation.

I _always_ like comments about my images. Even "YEUCH! It's ghastly!"
is better than a horrified silence. If people can bear to look at the
image long enough to add some critiques then that's even better!
If anyone finds a way to make ocean type water look good I'd love to
see the PoV code. As it is I'm using the angle dependant reflection in
the SuperPatch to get the finish as I have it.

Hi !

Is there media in there ?
I guess so, maybe you shoud set a higher sampling value or AA, it shows on the
ocean. I know it's easier said than done when you don't an ALPHA 21264 of the
soon to come K7.

With some more tweaking that would *be* a photograph
