This pic is one I've had around for a while and keep adding new stuff to
it now and then. The rock is a 400x400 gforge tga copied rotate and
scale many times. Then snail (anonite?) is a form demo scene object
tweaked a bit. The doodle is a scanned doodle. The rest of the objects
done in Moray. Comments welcome.

Very nice !

The only recommendation I have is to color the snail (anonite?)
a bit more like the surrounding rock. In real terms the original
shell is often times replaced by the sediments that it is entrapped
in and as a result inherits many of its natural colors and properties.

This is a great image... Really !
Only question I have is, The light seems to come from a desk-lamp, but shouldn't ther
be a
reflection in the table ???
(I know, angle and so on...)

I really like it..

Great looking picture, and I don't agree 100% with Ken about the color.
True maybe a hint of coloration might be better but mostly from the dirt
still at the surface and crevices. The small fossils I've seen in the
limestone and sandstone rocks along the Tennessee river are
predominately light gray, just about the same color of this anonite(?).
This picture is pretty cool no matter what though, the bit of dirt on
the tabletop and the neat drawing. If anything, I'd think maybe both the
paper and shell having a lightly roughened texture (normal) would
improve upon it. As Spider stated about the desklamp, the light is
coming from pretty far right it seems. Though maybe the mug should have
a specular highlight (reflection too?).

Nice! (Of course I'm a geo-type, so I'm biased.) Yes it's an amminoid
of some sort.

I'd be interested in using this as my (personal) windows wall paper. Is
that ok by you?

I really like the rock. And the dust on the table!! How did you do the
dust? I have to agree about the coloring of the shell, however. To me it
looks like a plastic hose imbedded in the rock.

I like the picture very much. Esp. the sand on the table, the rock texture
and shape, and the very subtle corner of the paper. I also like the dental
probe (I use them every day). Could I have the mdl. file for that, please?
I'm planning on doing a dental drill and other instruments also (heheh,
would that qualilfy for the IRTC "horror" theme?).

BTW, the dental probes I know have a more shiny surface (chrome-like).

I like the rock, but the Ammonite has the consistency of a plastic
land drain. Ken has already commented on one possibility for a
texture, but another very acceptable texture would be golden
(irridescent) if possible. Very often fossils such as ammonites are
preserved as pyrites and have a beautiful golden sheen when first
extracted fromn the rock matrix. Of course this soon tarnishes, but
not in a Povray teture - I hope!

I did a irid texture to the fossil once but didn't like it I may try
again with a different color. I also did a render with the same texture
as the rock (may have been more accurate but bland). I have no problem
with you using it as wallpaper Tim ( it has been mine from time to time
). Rudy if I can find it it's yours. Thanks for the nice words and I
might try a new version. BTW the dust is a h/f scaled down and
translated down so just the tips of the peeks were showing.
