You should do some stretches immediately after heavy exercise like that. It
opens up the blood vessels and gets the fatigue toxins out of your muscles.
And keep hydrated while you're exercising.

I wouldn't mind, but I came home and took a warm shower and stuff before
going to bed... Apparently that didn't do it. Heh.

Well, with the caveat that this isn't a medical diagnosis, stretching
(slow stretching) probably would help, but like I said it just sounds
like fatigue. You probably used muscles you haven't used a lot and
they're not used to the workout. I find when I'm going to the gym (and
when I do it tends to be 4-5 times a week) for the first few days I have
that kind of muscle soreness.
Just going out for a brisk walk might help - I find when my legs are sore
from working out, a good walk can stretch things out.
But I also will take something like a couple Advil before doing that -
the effect the painkiller has on dealing with the pain means I can get a
better stretch out of the walk (because I can go longer) and that helps
get the muscle back in shape.

Ever work late? If you do, grab a conference room (if there aren't any
windows and you can close the door, so much the better if you don't want
to be seen). :-)

There is that as a benefit as well. The activity is good for you, and
it's good to see that you're keeping it up. :-)

Keeping hydrated is not the same as pouring water over you. The idea is
to drink it.

Oh, no, I did that too. It was so god damned hot! I was drinking pints
of liquid...
I meant that a warm shower was supposed to relax the muscles.

Immersion is a much better option - a warm (or hot) shower doesn't quite
have the same effect. Though I find the steam from a hot shower helps a
lot.

My sister recommended going for a walk. I've just taken a lap of the park.
I find every time a stand up, it really hurts. Once I get moving it's
not too bad, but the initial stretching is really uncomfortable. (Jesus
I sound like an old man!)
The walking wasn't too bad. Every dozen paces or so, I'd take a stride
that's fractionally longer than the rest, and then it hurts again. But
by the end of my walk, my leg muscles did feel a lot looser.
Of course, now I've stopped walking, my leg muscles are twitching. (They
always do that for some reason. I guess I'm just weird...) And now I'm
too hot, obviously.
I'm also freakin' covered in aphids. I have no idea what's going on, but
there seems to be millions of them everywhere I go just lately. WTF?
