Some on-topic discussions tend to go off-topic (like this one) ;)
My feeling is that we often should switch earlier to the off-topic group
sometimes people indeed set the follow up to o-t, but that means that
some people out there are not able to follow the discussion anymore.
Some (many) of the discussions in o-t are so far removed from POVRay
that I can see your point of not including it. I guess that it is
impossible to find a balance and I respect your choice.

IIRC, the removal of p-o-t from the web view may also have been caused by
the fact that certain discussions could be occasionally dominated (in volume
rather than in quality) by the rantings of those people who used it as a
soapbox. This could give to the casual visitors of the web site a bad
impression of POV-Ray and of its community.

Perhaps *.news-submissions would be a good group? It'll get better
coverage, and that group is intended for one-shot news items. If this
sort of thing becomes more common, it may warrant a separate group. In
any case, it'd probably be good to start the subject lines with a tag
such as "[JOB]", so such postings could easily be filtered out if needed.

Thanx I did not notice before it existed. Yet another newsgroup to
catch up :(

I hope so, that is why I am following this discussion closely.
I made 5 covers for books (mostly dutch thesis) with POV-Ray.
I do not have much time though, and I planned to pass on the
next request for a cover to the POV community. Since making
that decision, nobody ask me to do another. I guess they know
I am very busy.

Please note that I have a couple people working on the job now BUT would
love to get 1-2 more of the right kind of people. So if you are
interested, let me know.

PS: Aren't we getting really overly picky about where a job offer post
should go? I mean... sure you could divide the povray newsgroups into
1000 sections if you wanted, so I think in case's where you are not sure
where a post should go, just allow it and move on especially if its
directly related to PovRay anyways.

Sally,

There is nothing wrong with your post to this group. povray.general was
intended for just this purpose - general discussions related to POV-Ray.
You just can't get away from people making suggestions about alternatives
no matter how well organized you try to be. So, don't let it bother you (if it
did) and continue looking for artists that may be willing to contribute to your
cause by posting to this group.

No, we know it is going to happen more in the future and we
just want to know. Don't confuse curiosity with picky.
By far most people here are very friendly and positive
in attitude.

If Ken says this is the right group that is ok with me.

I'm interested, here is an image of a sample component:

browser)

Please give further details, would you like the code?

Hello there,
you can email me at
buildingtolast ===AT_NOSPAMPLEASE=== yahoo.com

I would be interested in seeing a couple more images you have had in the
past to get a sense of your style.

I sent an e-mail to "bui### [at] yahoocom". Let me know if that wasn't
the right adress, or if you didn't get it for some other reason.
