Hi,

total nonsense, but fun to make...

No radiosity, no lightsources, only reflections and some emitting media - this
gives high render speeds (3400 PPS).

>14 Million finite objects cause high memory load (>26 GB). Sometimes I had to restart
before making a full render, oth
erwise the render failed after 80 min parsing time.
This is strange, because I know scenes with 18 million objects and >30 GB memory
need, rendering without problems...

Anyway - this is my entry for the current TC-RTC round.

Fantasy!
What opengl supports editing it?

Lol!

You mean Final Fantasy, don't you?
I'm too old to play video games, but perhaps some unconscious influence
appeared.

The scene is only csg together with a few isosurfaces and so on - no imported
meshes.
I'll post the sources soon.

Hi Stephen,

the scene was inspired by Lee Griggs
(http://www.leegriggs.com/335056/3779154/home/xgen-rendered-with-arnold-for-maya).

The ground consists of >2 million prisms with height and color determined by a
crackle-based function.

Not pointillism, but points can be seen when enlarged. I like the smallest
details being subpixel size...

Norbert

p.s. I'm sorry not reading your private email in time. I'll take care next time.

No. No!!! Sorry!
I about creation of a scene.
Before to render, I shall manipulate polygons, formulas.
The result displays the openGL window.
In the Blender if the number of polygons are more, than 1 000 000 brakes begin.
You have 18 million objects. One object: number of polygons = N
18 000 000 * N = oh, my god!

You don't use a preview scene?
You write the source code and you gives it to a render?

I fear I don't use a preview outside of my head.
But I use two computers - one for rendering and the older one for
coding/modeling etc.

Of course we all know this is a severe povray limitation, but I got used to it.
I for myself envy you about your Blender knowledge.

A 1.000.000 polygon issue sounds hard, I made several images with such an amount
of triangles from 2001 on.
But to be precise there are some Povray limitations around this number too.

So you get an error, if you call more than 1 million user-defined functions...

Thank you!
When I see your images, I see myself the impotent man.
The blender doesn't rescue.
I am interested in the maximum opportunities of CPU of a normal linux-desktop

The motherboard supports 64 Gb?
My computer has 16 Gb RAM and swap = 25 Gb
If the scene uses more than 40 Gb memory: problem!!! :)))))

I remember animated films of the childhood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzuCKBzV8xw
It disturbs heart.
Is still:

But, there are other wonderful movies:

http://online.anidub.com/anime_tv/full/5902-geroicheskiy-eydzh-heroic-age-01-26-iz-26bdrip720p2007.html

It is the best movie on philosophy, but characters - stone statues
http://online.anidub.com/anime_tv/full/5902-geroicheskiy-eydzh-heroic-age-01-26-iz-26bdrip720p2007.html

I want to integrate anime, best in world production, using Povray...

Some of that looks like stuff I spilled on my lab bench when I was an organic
chemist, and then it crystallized as it evaporated...

That looks like a lot of imaginative fun, and all I can say is - WOW - that's a
really great image that will be fun to explore. :)
Thanks as always for sharing your talent.
