Pov-Win has a menu that says GUI-Extensions, but I have never seen one, or
even seen any reference to it in the help files...
Any clues?

The GUI extensions are when you right click on a file that is a *.pov
file (using Win95). It gives you the option of rendering it or of
editing it.....

Actually, as far as I know.. That's NOT it.. Why would it say "No Extensions
Loaded" beneath it then? What you are talking about is a registry-type
setting..
That's a file association, and Pov-Win has a default set for what to do with
it. Read PVENGINE.INI

Actually I believe that the GUI-extension in POV is the fourth button
next to
the minimize, maximize and close buttons, allowing you to have a small
version
of the rendering output on top of all your other windows...

I saw many things that seemed wrong to me.
GUI means Graphical User Interface. It is a program that can be called by
POV to provide some user-friendly interface. I guess this could apply to a
modeller or something like that.
Hope this helps,

I am reasonably sure that the GUI-Extensions are capabilities that can
be added by third party developers. The source code is available in the
archives. The documentation should be there for how to add your own
special capabilities to the Windows interface. Probably you would create
a DLL which conforms to some special set of rules, then somehow register
that DLL with POV. When you run POV's Windows front-end it would
recognize this extension and it would show up in the menu under
GUI-Extensions.
Just a guess.

Shortly after Pov 3 was released there was a PovTeam announcement
that a mailing list would be formed for parties interested in writing extensions.
I expressed interest in that but nothing seemed to ever have happened.
Maybe it is something reserved to the Compuserve Forun?

If that is the case, I am truly unhappy about that.. I do NOT have a
compuserve account, and I really do NOT have the money OR inclination to get
one.

Maybe a new newsgroup needs to be added, here?
Check out the source file: POV/povray3/source/windows/guiext/guidemo.c
from the source code archive. That file seems to have the most
information about extensions.

Indeed such a list was created. About 5 people joined it. I posted a message on
it asking the members for their opinions about development options. No-one even
replied.
The list existed up until about two months ago when it got nuked without a
single message (apart from my own) ever having been posted on it.
