Thanks...sounds like you has that fish in order. I ran into the same problem
with on some 'fin' parts. I'm re-doing a few things and will post my version
soon. I had to refer back to my sketch to get some of the right transforms.
Thanks

I used that bug in few renderings. I'll track it down. :)

With all this talk about when ya started POV I had to say somewhere that my
oldest file I can find is dated 1\12\1999. I when looking for POV or something
like it.
I got tired of doing images bit by bit with 16 colors, 252 colors, 256 color
palettes.
When I found POV I was blown away. And I never got over it!
Have fun!

Same. ahh yes...the 256 indexed palette. I always loved the way you can cycle
through the palette to produce looping color animations like Stone Soup Group's
Fractint.

Now that you mentioned, I think that could perhaps be the same source for me
too. Back in '93 a family friend gave me an issue of some PC magazine that he
had picked up on a trip to UK, and I remember it had a cover disk with POV on
it. I doubt I have the original disk or even the magazine still left anywhere,
but I just did some googling and discovered that at least March '93 issue of PC
Format had POV on the cover disk, yet I don't recall that particular mag cover
myself. It could have been some other one as well ofc, as computer magazines
were plenty back in the day. But in any case, it was POV 2.0 that I started
with, and my first renderings are from December '93. Not long ago I discovered a
collection of my old 3,5" disks while visiting my childhood home and found old
..pov files on those. Too bad there were no original renderings in .tga format on
any of those. Unless those couple of suspicious looking LHA and ARJ packages
that I didn't extract yet could have something in them. :D

I remember this fish too! It surely blew my mind back then and I still think
it's cool! I remember in those times I couldn't for the love of me figure out
how that fish was made. :D

These latest blobs/abstracts are indeed incredible! Cheers! :)

Thanks. haha..yes, I did the cover for Format March '93. Exactly 30 years
ago. I can't find most of my 3.5's with POV work - they're in my attic
somewhere. I did come across old archives on 8" winchester floppys and a ton of
5 1/4s but I don't have any old hardware to read them. :)

those images were huge inspirations back then, dude...

lots of old timers... but I've always been mostly just a lurker

I came here to show this javascript shader:

https://twigl.app/?ol=true&ss=-NQVK1bDj18UhjVT7D2C

reminded of old pov SCC terse code:

http://paulbourke.net/miscellaneous/scc3/final/

then went to Jaime Vives Piqueres website to see what he's been up to... and it
seems his raytracing hobby days are over:

http://www.ignorancia.org/index.php/ai-art/landscapes/

at least he delves in Unreal Engine and as we know RT is now real-time in
games...

I've played a bit with the image generators, mindblown by how it's basically
rendering old render techniques obsolete:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FrMd4IgXwAAMWSp?format=jpg&name=medium

VR and AI have been my latest hobbies... I guess Yngmar's Khyberspace will be in
an AI-generated metaVRse soon...

I thought my days of watching a rendering process was over, but the nostalgia
and the fun of coding scenes has me back.... and it's a fun hobby. I have mixed
feelings about some AI generated art. Mind-blowing stuff but I'm old fashion...I
still admire hand illustrations and paintings.
Mike.

That would be a very good idea - ChatGPT 4 now is capable of
understanding Pashto! A full-blown virtual pre-war Afghanistan populated
with fifteen million virtual Afghans with individual personalities at
one fingertip! Do they worship ChatGPT 4 in the disguise of Allah?

See you in Khyberspace!

And the results can be more dangerous, that in "real" reality
