No problem, I need to get used to the fact that "model" has about 7
different meanings here. :-)
Thanks for the info! I hope to be able to mess around with poser one day,
but for now, I only use POV for work and it's not likely I'm gonna be able
to talk them in to buying it for me ;-)

       Heh, that's true... :o)

Using POV for work is 'good'. :o) I've found myself using it many, many
times now.

If it's beneficial for your job, why not? I think it was about a year
ago(?) that it (Poser5) became free, and everyone scrambled to download it,
including myself. It opens up a whole new dimension in 3D art.

Well, it's not technically beneficial for my job, as I work for a planetary
science research institute. So, the only things I'm modelling for them are
stars, planets, moons, etc. :-)

However, I would love to have Poser to play around with myself, but I can't
seem to find a download link for 5. Do you have one? All the links I can
find redirect to Poser7, and I don't get paid enough for the stars and
planets stuff to buy that... :-)

Oh, well... not exactly a term or name actually, iirc, it was a code
involving 'rotation' and 'mirroring'...
Never mind! Just get on with this excellent work, Steve!

No, I don't unfortunately. Contentparadise.com ran a four day campaign
last year, where P5 was a free download. I haven't checked to see whether
any of the previous Poser versions are available or not, but it might be
worth exploring that avenue.

Well, it would work with Wings models, I know this, but I'm embarrassed
to say that don't know 'how'. I mean, how would I put,

     #declare golden = <1.0, 0.8, 0.4>;

in the PoseRay materials file when there is already a #declare,
<pigment - whatever>, declared, so to speek?

Yes, I can't figure that out either...

Oh, that would be 9ct White gold then... Yes, when polished, it looks
white, but when it gets to its natural patina, it will have a good tint of
yellow.

It seems to me you just replace the texture with your own.... you could
post a code snippit of the materials file here so I can see it's
structure, if you want.

I am a ways off from needing such a ring just yet...

It's actually been years since this happened. It was just a superficial
wound.

I went to the creek two days ago, and had luck with the turkey-basting
syringe-type thing. Vaccumed a series of cracks and found three good
nuggets, one covered in mercury. Lots of lead, too. I plan on going
again tomorrow, to finish the job if I can.

I can imagine. My first animation involved a chain and I remember how

I doubt the better eyesight thing but I have the advantage of having had to

Another tip, and it is an old photographers one, is to turn the image
upside down. This makes any image that has things your brain recognizes,
unfamiliar and you can look at it without your brain filling in details
that are not there.
