So, this is where I stand now. I'm getting tired of
bouncing back and forth between subsurface and lighting.
Though both hands use the same settings, they look somewhat
different.

Note the artefacts on the right hand (actually a left hand,
but on the right of the image)? I'm trying to compensate those
right now by tracing them with more samples.

I cannot get the subsurface-effect to look really
realistic, but I've come to a point where I think I cannot
do much more about it, unless I want to rewrite and
rethink the subsurface-code I came up with.
As with all meshes, media sometimes just do suck... Well,
its actually the meshes that suck with media...
Whatever.

Hope you guys like it, I'll upload an artefact-less version
sometime this week to my homepage.

I don't think you'll agree, but that hand on the right looks more
realistic to me.

I do agree!

I've got no clue as to why that left hand looks
less realistic. Its probably the direction of the incoming
light, along with the red-glow from the woman.

In broad daylight (light with rgb 1), both hands look
absolutely great, but I'm using rgb .09...

I'm still tracing that high-sample left hand, and will
go for a daylight-version of this image. Maybe that
will look significantly better.

Can't help with the hands, but the image is very nice in general!

I liked the woman's pose better in the previous images though, but the
poses of the hands are better now.

Thanks!

As for the pose of the woman, I'm looking into that
as I'm doing some final attempts. Now it looks like
she is really hovering in water filled tank, so I'll
probably return to something more similiar to the
first posts.

As said to Rune, I agree on that. I'll be looking into that and
some lighting artefacts (especially the right hand looks strangely
lit) and hope to get it finished pretty soon...

For one, I want to finally finish my particle-system, so that
I can concentrate on something different (I wanted to give
a try to that water-algorithm everybody is just implementing,
but went to thinking about mass-physics/particle-simulation
to create proper liquids...).

Ah, some praise is always very nice for rather depressed
persons (lies in the family...). Thanks!

You have helped me alot, there's no way I could say bad things about your
picture, even the first one was good, but each gets better.. at least you
post.. I've not gotten the gull to put my first reall pov picture in the
NG..

Ya know...
I await the final version, I see a new Wallpaper coming up.. :)

I think the material is looking a lot better but still has a bit of fakeness
to it beause it looks so smooth. Perhaps some kind of fingerprint bump map
would help?

*Whew*
What can I say? Thanks again!

Regarding that first "real pov picture":

has to post that one either before he posts anything
else, or has to post some "advanced" version of
the "reflective-sphere-above-checkered-plane" later on.

So, if you just want to begin with posting images,

even flame you for that picture, how and why should
they for other ones that are more "yours" than "tutorial's"?

So, just give yourself a push and try!
