I tried to put all the excellent suggestions I got to good use.
Gilles's in particular. :)
I, personally, like it!!
As to the scale -
the blimp to the right is holding position directly above the
waterfall. It always has. There *is* a shadow under it, so I thought
that might give away the position.
Enjoy, and comment!

Whoa. Definately impressive. The size of the windows on the fortress give a
good idea of the scale. It's massive. Assuming those tiny little squares are
windows ;)
The birds almost look big enough to carry away an adult if the windows are
correct (just my 2c)

For the first time I have been really struck with awe, the balance seems
perfect and I suppose the format makes a lot of difference. Not that I
am an expert as you know, but gee, this is really something. :-)

Oh.
My.
God.

I didn't think your image could be improved, boy was I wrong!! Nice. The
waterfall looks even better now that the mist rising up is taking up less of
the image. And I love the moon in the background! The green on the banners
is nice also. And am I right in thinking you've slightly stretched the
blimps? Or is it just the camera? Whatever, that looks great too :)

The only criticism I can find, and when I say "-I- can find" I realise
someone else has already said this ;), is that it would be nice to have some
known real-world object for scale to show just how big this massive fortress
is. A person would be good, though I can't see where you'd put them.

My thoughts exactly.

At takes 5-10 I thought the picture is as impressive as it can be, and
further editing can't make it clearly better. But, you made it. While
the previous versions were gorgeous, the take 11 is definitely better
than any take this far. Congrats.

Well, a lot of people have weighed in on the side of improvement, let me
weigh in as ambivalent. I really like the panorama abd the new composition,
but there are a number of problems.

Did you forget to adjust the camera? Both the blimbs and the station look
distorted and strecthed horizontally. Was the camera and the render size
not in sync, maybe?

I think the mist is a step backwards. It's now just a smudgy blot in one
corne. Reduce it there and add some mist in the left corner again would be
my vote.

What's up with the green splotches? If they're supposrd to be moss or
something, they don't work. They're both too regular and too common in
color. I'd expect lots of really small spots maybe, or something.

Going to the doubled deck again also doesn't thrill me. The station looks
so much more majestic with only one set.

I really like the layout, though, but other than that, I think there were
several steps backwards in this one that need addressed.

Of course, I seem to be in the minority, so what do I know?

Geoff

Hmm. Seems to be a factor of the Direction statement. I'll fiddle with it.

I've already fixed that. :-)

Ah. They're not mist but random detailing (like the yellow stuff on the
station's banners) The problem was that they were scaled too small. I fixed
that after I saw the render.

Well, you may be right. I'll give it a try.

:-) Quite a bit.
