A nice little scene, about 100,000 frame level objects,
about 5000 light sources, took 29d 15h to render on a 233 Pentium 2.

All the wires are in fact Hermite Splines.

If you can guess what this devices does, tell me.

Comments?

Rendered at "desktop size" 1280x1024. Comments?

The Spline Wire macros are there:

Obviously, this is a power plant for some sort of large robotic war
vehicle that processes Aqua Velva as fuel.

(very cool, BTW)

I salute your patience.

That's nice.

It functions as part of the Matrix. This is their broadband network for
transfering agents through the network. It can even load an agent into a
human connected to the Matrix, and is now being used for that very purpose
to help attack the humans in the city of Zion, after the Matrix was
disconnected from computer control by a human who calls himself Neo.

I'm using it as my background right now. :)

Well worth it I think! Very "realistic" and atmospheric, and I love this shade
of the color blue!
I love the lighting setup :)))

Kinda reminds me of Hooverphonic... a machine, mysterious blue reaching back
to the horizon...

Think I'll make it my wallpaper.

The spinal cord of a robot. I don't know. Just seems to be like a
electrolytic fluid or something being distributed from this centralized
place.
That may be the longest render I've seen stated, think the next to the
longest was 27 days maybe. As far as being a continuous render though I
don't know; and you didn't say if yours was.
Were that many lights and objects really needed? I can't count the ones in
there but it does look like a few thousand or so ;-)

P.S.
You should try and post here more often so I can spell your name right
(relating to another short thread around here someplace).

I looks good, but 29 days is quite a lot for such a scene.

I wonder how it would look like without the light sources just using radiosity.
Of course it would be much different but maybe not bad after all and probably at
least a bit faster.

HEY!! You stole my idea! I've been trying to render a scene called "The
Machine" for 3 month (It should take about the same time as yours to
render, but between tripping over the power wire, having someone reboot
the machine behind my back and POV's inability to restart a png
render...).

Yours is nicer than I expect mine will be though.
