Well, for one thing Pov takes longer to render when you have the camera
inside of a non-hollow object? Your image reminded me of a camera inside of
a semi-transparent object.

I hope you work it out. :)

    Hi Grim, you're right. The camera is inside the sphere. I had no idea
this could happen. This explains why I couldn't get a light on it, Doh!
   The next image here is just off the surface, with the scale of the sphere
at 4.1331. So this means also that my 'moon' is inside the large sphere!
Cool! :o)
   Quick question about the magnification; Is it possible to use PoV as a
microscope somehow? I've got 2,000,000+ 'arms' or lines on that sphere and
got down to 3 lines. What the magnification is, I shudder to think.....

I did a hslf decent moon IMHO in my Halloween scene in the gallery on my
web site, it's a fairly straight forward texture, the source code's on
there aswell if you want to d/l it and have a look.

Not sure about a microscope (I'm sure you could make on), but you can zoom
by using the camera's direction vector and a multiplier.

Cheers Steve, I've just had a look at it, and it's a nice moon, thanks.
About that image, how do you get the light to shine out of the pumpkin and
the other things? Do you actually place a light inside? Nice site by the
way, I still can't get over those screwdrivers :o)

Hi Grim, yes, it was just a thought. I imagined being able to take a
really good photo of say, a bee, and then somehow placing it in PoV and then
zooming in on it until you could see each individual hair on the bee. I just
thought that it would be quite a good way of getting some interesting
textures like this, and maybe using them as backgrounds or something. I
wish!  ;o)

Yes there's a light inside the pumpkin, and the way it shines on the
floor/table just happened by accident so I left it like that, I also
made the inside of the pumpkin a brighter colour than the outside
by colouring the object that hollowed the inside of the pumkin out
a bright yellow, while leaving the outside that orange colour.

So to take the inside out I just did something like:

difference{
           object{Pumpkin_Shape}
           object{Pumpkin_Shape
                  pigment{Yellow}
                  scale 0.9
                 }
           pigment{Orange}
          }

What looks like moonlight isn't actually coming from the moon, that's
just a mostly blue light that I placed behind the cat.
