I've undertaken my third revision of my blob-mon (I watch Pokemon and
had friends call me Gregmon a decade ago, so I'm calling it Blobmon!)
and this is the first that is even presentable.

I've improved the proportions. The head was a bit oversized before and
the legs molded together like a dress when he stood up straight. I
think that face had much more character, but unfortunately I couldn't
just cut & paste the code to fit the new head, because it was out of
proportion.

I used a Poser 2.0 figure as a rotoscope. This is the best thing because
anatomy books suck. They either have a cartoon where the front and side
views don't match or they have photos where the model moves her head
between front & side views.

I looks good! Is the back side finished?

Maybe the chest needs a little bit more details.

How do you place all those spheres and cylinders in the blob?
Manually with a modeller, or are you hand coding this?

And is it one ore several blobs?

What is Poser 2.0 and what is a rotoscope?

It is one big blob. Stylistically, I wanted this, so that I could later
play around with it melting into things, etc. I assume that this makes it
very different from Peter Houston's INC, which I think is many different
blob shapes CSG'ed together. .

I hand coded it so that I can rotate the arms & legs for later animation.
There might be 150 components, but I haven't counted recently.

Rotoscoping is the practice of setting up an image as a backdrop as one
sculpts one's model. I used Poser, MetaCreations' program that makes human
figures. This is the first and really only good use I've had out of this
program.

That is correct, originally I started out with just one blob, but soon
discovered getting limbs too close together caused them to merge.

It was also necessary to have each body part as a separate object to allow
clothing to be to be created.

Govert Zoethout < http://victorian.fortunecity.com/dada/507/ > created the
original Blob Torso and head which my Blob Man macros were based on, there
is also lady.inc which was created by Yasunari Iwanaga <
http://yasucg.site.ne.jp/page1/parts.html > which I based the female model
on.

If you want to take a look at my macros, I have posted them in p.b.u

BTW its looking good so far, keep it up.

Regards,

Peter H.

Very nicely done.
Can the facial expression be changed?
On the silver guy his shoulders don't look right - they seem to be pushed
back at bit, where the arms connect to the shoulders.

I think the chest looks good - the hands have a lot of detail - again,
nicely done.

I can change the shape of the "mouth hole"--it's just a flattened sphere.I can
change the rotation of the eyebrows.
Not much else without substantial re-editing.

Eyebrow changes have a subtle, but significant change. If you post another
image, try changing the eyebrows a bit - see what happens.

Looks pretty cool.

Note how the legs don't blob together anymore like my first model. I think I
need more meat on the legs--funny even the "heroic" build on the Poser model
still had very skinny legs.
