Hi all.

Here's a test image that I thought I'd post for some comment. (As it is
a test it doesn't get the 13 name or logo as yet).

The features I'm testing are.

1. Background image macro. I used an image made with Terragen
2. Quick and easy height field and material_map macro used for the
foreground
3. Image framing using a set of INI files and +C (continue trace)
option. The The main image is a different scene file from the two frame
sections.
4. A set of building macros to make castles. It will be based on the
macro set I used for my last IRTC entry.

I'm still stunned from your last IRTC entry and now this. I really like
what I see. The scene looks a bit empty but the heightfield is very
realistic! Although the background pic fits fine into this picture I
have to admit that for my own work this would be a no no in most cases
... might be useful in the other ones :-) .

I'd like to see the macros so!

BTW, alerted by your Piranesi entry I visited a temporary Piranesi
exhibition here in Stuttgart and got hooked. They have a homepage
( http://www.staatsgalerie.de/piranesi/uebers.htm ) but it is only in
german (they show some of his drawings there too).

I see an obvious contrast difference between the background and the
3D foreground objects. The specular ? highlighting on the objects
in the foreground really make the backgound look contrived and
unatural.

The last three items are exemplary of your usual high quality of
workmanship. The background feature needs work. Perhaps if the
foreground had an light obscuring haze added it would not be as
noticable ?

Hmm, the HF looks really good, and I'd really like to see how this evolves. the
frame idea is interesting, something coming up on IRTC someday, I assume :-)
As for the background, it doesn't come out that great(it's good, but there is a
feeling of "wrong" to it)

The castles look very nice, another thing to keep my eyes on...

Yes it does. Must admit though that it is a very low quality Terragen
image made quickly just to test the process, and the textures for the
foreground hf are just grabbed from the standard "stones.inc". When I
develop the concept further I'll have to coordinate the textures and
colour intensity a lot more carefully.

All the macros used for the castle are available in the zip file of my
last IRTC entry. See the text description for the image.

I'd actually also be interested in the background macro, if its not too much
trouble.

Overall, I think this has great promise. As has already been mentioned, some
details make the mage seem a little odd, like the foreground is out of place
considering the background, but the basic elements look very good.

I like the background a lot. Overall the picture suffers from the
contrasting foreground but good besides. The columns textures stand out
as a bit too splotchy I'd have to say though.
