I'm really new to POV. about a week. and this newsgroup about 2 days. I
just wanted to get some peoples input on this image. I think that maybe the
clouds need some work. Oh, sorry for the huge size. I couldn't find a
decent JPEG converter. I rendered it at 800x600 it took 6m 31s on my
computer: AMD-K6 333Mhtz 36MB Ram. I should also say that the image is
unfinished.

Kind of cute, but the roofs would look much better if they were roughersomehow.
... Maybe lots of individual tiles?

Best,

You produced that after only a week!? That's amazing, do you have prior
experience with 3D modeling and rendering? As for my comments, the clouds need
some work, give them more turbulence, scale them up a bit and their too uniform
in colour. And lastly the waves in the water are too small, scale the normal
pattern you used on them up a bit. But over all that's very good after only 1
week!

That's some quickly learned POVing there.
The castle is pretty good. Some type of roof tile, stone wall bump
mapping or normal would do this better.
Your PNG is at what I consider the limit for posting at this newsgroup,
you no doubt didn't see the talk of image file format/size preferences
here earlier in the year.
To sum up my thoughts: png of 800x600 final render (meaning possibly
good as it gets image for this newsgroup anyway), 640x480 (resolution
but number of pixels really) for a preview of a good finished image too.
Then jpg (jpeg) of all the 800x600 plus images (whether final or not),
640x480 and less all others. 320x240 being considered preview/example
images, though I would even go to 160x120.
This are just my ideas on it, not the majority opinion although I'm
probably close to that anyway.

ABOUT A WEEK!?! Jeepers Kriminey! I think I'm going to go cry in a
corner somewhere...

Great pic, I'd love to see it when it's completely finished.

Good Work!

One week, in two weeks we'll all be taking up basket weaving or
something.

The clouds I like, they look very Disney. The Castle looks very
Gormenghast.

What is the green thing just the other side of the arch way? Are
we going to see this from another camera angle.

Keep up the good work but don't burn out.

Cheers
Steve

Well, like all the other guys are saying, man did you learn POV fast!!
It's great! I'd just fix the roof like everyone else has said, do some
work on the clouds, and I also think a kinda purplish horizon would look
cool if you added that to the sky gradient. Just a suggestion, thought
it would fit the mood of the picture. I'd also love to take a look at
the source, if you don't mind my asking.
