Reusser -

Cool anim. The motion blur makes the scent look pretty realistic. Are
you using the newest MegaPOV's motion blur feature? It seems pretty
limited to me ( straight line motions and all that) :(

There used to be a patch for POV that had used Monte-Carlo motion blur
(similar to the method POV uses to calculate focal blur, radiosity, and
photons). It might be worth a lot to see if that patch still exists...
I'd like to see the results!

Thanks. Straight lines? nope. If you look closely, when it bounces off
the wall, the motion blur looks like this: \/. It recalculates the
position with the bounce macro for each motion blur image. This way, you
don't get straight-line motion.

Hmmm... Even if it still exists, I highly doubt they came out with a
macintosh patch. Sounds like an interesting idea though. I wonder how it
works.

Well gee. I was thinking about working on a roller-coaster some time,
but with all of this vomitting just watching a bouncing ball...

I couldn't see it.
MPG-1 is the common courtesy for posting here.

But isn't QuickTime alright to use? I thought that it was better suited for
cross-platform usage than those unviewable DivX files that I've found here.

I've been thinking of eventually post some animations here, but if
QuickTime isn't allowed, then I'm afraid that I will be unable to do that.
I have a lot of QuickTime tools, but none are capable of editing MPEGs.

There is a .mov to .mpeg conversion utility available for Mac users here -

http://www.win.ne.jp/~juan/misc/mpg/index_e.html

P.S. I have the QT plugin for netscape and had no problem seeing your
anim.

He said MPG-1 not DivX. And while I have not problems
viewing DivX (currently) I hate the codec because it's
such a filthy bastard to get working right.

For myself, I don't care. I use QT at times, MPG, and
BINK. Are you on a Mac?

Why bother? I'm not interesting.
But... maybe "Ballet pour ma fille" will be.

Yes, I know. I just expressed my confusion about the phrase "MPG-1 is the common
courtesy for posting here" when I've found many other postings in fileformats
that are much less viewable than Quicktime, like for example DivX files.

Yep. Can't get BINK to work either. QuickTime, ordinary AVI and ordinary MPEG
works fine.

Yeah, I have it. But it is just a conversion utility, with a rather confusing
interface. Most of the options in the settings are incomprehensible. No matter
how hard I try, it still produce MPEGs that runs perfectly on Macs, while
several seconds at the end of the movies disappears on PCs.
(Actually, I just looked at a mpeg that I put on my webpage a while ago, and 1.5
seconds had disappered for me also. Strange, but it's just another sign that I
can't trust mpegs).
Also, I can't edit MPEGs in it, like I can edit QuickTime in Adobe Premiere, or
any of the shareware editors.

Thanks, but it wasn't my anim :-)

Btw, your link collection is great!

If you can't get BINK to work you should seriously
email them and describe your problems, because the guys
at RadGames update that thing almost religiously and
they will fix the problem if it is at their end (which
I doubt, as it's such aa widespread codec in games on
both PC and MAC). BINK's front end is my preferred
tool for creating animations in AVI as well as BIK as
it'll grab any AVI codec I have installed and allow me
coding access to it...
