Hi,

Over the time I've been writing messages to this newsgroups I've made a lot
of promises:

I made a Millennium Falcon model and said I would post the source someday.
Never did.
I said once I would make macro-files for conical, toroidal and cubical
blob-components. Never did.
I promised my StarDestroyer model to Dylan (for his site: StarWars: the
POV-ray collection). Never gave him.
I told you I would make a lot of other StarWars models. Never made (yet :-)
I promised you my insect-model cause most of you liked the textures. Never
posted.
...

Please forgive me for this.

I never posted my Falcon-model cause it still isn't finished and with the
textures it's way to big (filesize) to post.
I never actually made those macro-files, cause *I* never needed them.
I never gave Dylan my StarDestroyer cause I never finished it.
I never made other StarWars-models cause the old ones never got finished.
I never posted my insect-model cause I said I would first improve the legs
and I never did so.

I'm really sorry for this. If I find the time, you can expect all this in
the near future.

(Oh, BTW, right now POV-Ray is rendering a cyclic animation of
water-movement and cloud-movement. When it's ready (probably tommorow,
maybe later), I will certainly post it, cause actually I'm kinda proud of
it. :-) The test-render looked really good!)

ZK

(Third time I post this message. Hope this one comes in right. Sorry for
it, but there's something wrong with my system-clock and I think many of you
can't read messages older than a couple of months.)

Can I jump in here too? I've made a few promises myself in the past. Some
stuff I think I've forgotten about, but I know that I recently promised to have
a new media patch ready this week - it's not like I didn't try. I got it all
compiled without any errors but it's giving me a GPF. Everything works except
the supersampling, which is the whole point of the patch really, so...long story
short I need to take a break from it.

I will get it to work eventually. Honest...I promise. :)

Same here (maybe), I treat this stuff so much like a hobby (oh yeah,
guess it is) that I never take notes or put any sticky notes up on my
monitor to remind me of things. I'm lucky if I remember the most
important or interesting things as it is. So just in case, forgive me
too. We could always start a club called The Unforgiven, but then I
might never make it to the meetings.

I almost always follow through with what I say I am going to do. Just in
case I have not however I too wish to step into the confessional... Well
there was the texture tutorial I keep promising but it has been started...

I have too-I still haven't gotten my transparency/reflectivity patch
finished, and I haven't tested and sent Mike Paul the Mac version of
WyzPov that I did. And I haven't gotten back to work on UVPov for Mac.
And I haven't done the Mac version of the Superpatch yet. And I haven't
sent Ron Parker the patch stuff I already have finished...
Well, I will get to work on catching up. School has started, so I don't
have as much time, but hopefully I will be able to make some progress.
:-)

I've been meaning to build POV-Ray 3.1 SunOS binaries, but they're not
quite there yet. I've been meaning to update the Linux binaries so that
people not using RH6.0 could run it without recompiling. Again, they're
not quite there yet. I have a SPARC Station sitting on my dresser, but
I need to download some more files before it's capable of doing any real
development. The new Linux binaries are mostly waiting for me to
package them. I hope to have these available in the near future. Sorry
if I've frustrated people or let anyone down. It's the season for
apologizing.

I don't think I've ever made any definite promises here, but unfinished projects
abound. I really do feel bad about it...
This I promise, though: my lake image _will_ be finished. It's coming along
slowly but surely. Perhaps this doesn't excite you much; but having publicly
promised this I'm further incited to keep working. Hopefully I shall have first
finished POV image soon. Hell, I've only used the program a couple of years :P

:-)

I was just asking to forgive me. I didn't expect that much other
confessions :-)
(And, apart from Ken, nobody has yet forgiven me :-)

Oh, the water: It's still rendering. I tried first with a 30 frame
animation, but a made a calculation-error so POV-Ray rendered 2 days for
nothing. Then I tried a 50 frames animation, but something went wrong (I
still don't really know what, but the last couple of frames were all the
same). Now it's rendering a 20 frames animation. POV-Ray was at frame 16
when I had to reboot (using Windows 98 of course :-(
So you can expect the animation tomorrow... at least I hope.

ZK

(And I forgive you all... if you forgive me :-)
