I 've been sitting here toying with the idea of rendering
something that would be considered "sexual" in nature. I was
wondering, is there anyone else out there done anything like that?
(obviously not a topic for the IRTC!!) I mean, let's face it...
almost everything has been rendered that there is to see in the known
universe. (and something we'll never see!) But I have never came
across this "topic" before when it pertained to raytracing. So how
about it folks? Would it be considered bad/offensive taste to create
something like this?

P.S When I say "sexual" in nature... I had nothing particular in mind.

PERVERT!!!
:-)
just kidding...
I'm a grown-up(technically speaking) so I can take it. Art sometimes
offends. Oh well...If people don't like it they don't have to look
at it.

However, considering there are now 8 1/2 yr. olds using POV , I
wouldn't post anything directly to povray.binaries.images that you
feel
is a little "risky". I would just post a link to a website(if you have
one...
if not I'd be willing to post it on my webspace for a short time so
that
people can see it)and attach a warning so you(or I) don't get arrested.

Sex is what gave HBO it's start! Late night plotless sex movies.

There have been some post at binary.images featuring Lara Croft in a
more ... hmmmm ... open style of clothing. If I remember it it got
started by the admin.

Offensive ... I don't think so. It's still part of life ... an important
one also.
Just try to keep something that can be called good taste if you want to
show in public and want to get flamed all over.
I guess nobody would have called the naked greek statues offensive (well
you will never know!).

I think that one is easy to answer. Yes there have been images produced
tht displayed human nudity. Of those that I have seen each was presented
as art. There is one Pov artist using poser to create some very classy
looking imagery that uses nude female poser people. One tht comes to mind
is her version of the classic chess board scene using nude females as
the playing pieces. It is in the binaries images group poted sometime between
9-98 and 1-99. The artist is name is Jenny Williams if I recall correctly.

The point to remember is that if it is presented as art and not as
perversion few will regard it as offensive. You can't of course please
everybody so act with a reasonable amount of moral restraint. Detailed
close-ups of male and femail pelvic regions would probably be frowned
upon by most people and the details of these areas should be kept to a
minimum when included at all.

Whatever you do - DO NOT publicly post graphic images of blatant sex acts,
natural or unatural, to the images group here. It will most likely, on this
server anyway, be removed and might cause your access to the server to become
restricted or removed completely.

Yes, there was one particular image in there (and I'm sure everyone knows
which one!) which I would NOT consider tasteful for such public display...

But, of course as long as you display it as a work of art I'm sure not too
many people will be offended... I'm sure that what you have in mind is not
like that of the now famous IRTC entry... (badly composed that image too...)

The current hangout for poser-people in interesting positions
is alt.binaries.3d.poser. Some of that stuff gets pretty ugly
and I am glad it hasn't spilled over onto this server.

The quality of the postings and the helpful attitudes (along
with a little friendly competition :-) make povray.org groups
something special.

Being spam-free doesn't hurt either!

Telling me! Go over to alt.3d.studio and it's like you've just mailed your
email address to every spammer in the USA!!!

WOOHOO to the news.povray.org server!!!

As for the Poser pics, I'm glad that none have been posted here either...

The stuff people have done with Character Studio and that damn Viewpoint
Digital model (that's become so sickly popular) is just disgusting...
