Hello to all. First time poster here.
I hope I am right in thinking that this is the best place to post this.
Here is an image I created as an adjunct to a trilogy of fantasy novels I have
written. I am not sure how many people have ever done this, but I decided to use
pov-ray (long time user) to create all the illustrations for the accompanying
website (www.landofthefirst.com). I also used pov-ray to create the book cover
art.
I would be really interested to know what other pov-ray users thought of my
efforts.
Many thanks,
Simon J. Cambridge
PS. How do you create actual links on a message here?

For some reason my attachment did not take. Definitely a newbie! And please
ignore the question in the PS. That's two mistakes in one posting. I am ashamed.

Awesome effort... there are a lot of very diverse pictures there, all
of them very fine and elegant. I must have been a lot of work to create
all the writings, images and music: you have some enviable patience and
determination.
BTW, when looking at the acknowledgements page, I wondered who was
that "Jacques Picquere" guy, and clicked on the link only to discover it
is my French twin! ;)
Regards,

And I really must apologise. I am going blind in my old age! The website went up
on tuesday, I went through it checking all the links (as one does - twice) and
missed your name entirely. That's three errors!
Thank you so much for looking and liking. Your tierra project was one of my
inspirations for how to go about illustrating the places I describe in the
books, which is why you are on the acknowledgements page - even if I did put the
wrong name in (and I am still trying to work out how that happened). Be assured
I have corrected the error!
Thank you again.
All the best,
Simon.

First of all, a very warm welcome to you here. Your work is astounding
and you are achieving what I have been dreaming about for years,
combining story telling, music, and graphic art. I am deeply impressed
indeed. At one stroke you are (for me at least) placed among the POV-Ray
masters like Gilles Tran and Jaime Vives Piqueres. Only praise indeed.

Thank you Thomas, for the welcome and the praise. I am a long time lurker,
occasionally peering over the wall but never brave enough to post (not until I
had something I felt I could post, that is).
And glad you like the work. It took a long time to get where I am now, trying
various things, reading up on others techniques. I am still in awe of the work
on the hall of fame, though. 'The Accident', 'The Kitchen', 'The Lovers' and
'The Wet Bird', to name but a few.
All the best,
Simon.

I have to agree that your works are diverse, fitting a central theme.
I'm not sure I like the textures you are using though. They look too
washed out and faded. Could it be a gamma issue maybe?
