I'm trying to render a scene for a corporate logo ( my first big scene) that
includes a glass flask. It has some chrome thingies aroud it and some water
and a couple of seagulls in it. The flask renders just fine by itself,
(it's built with CSG and I made it hollow), the rest of the scene renders
just fine by itself, but when I put both the falsk and it's contents
together I get a page fault in PVENGINE during rendering. It usually
occurs right at one of the seams where parts of the flask are stitched
together... I'm using the Glass2 and/or Glass3 textures here...

I'd really appreciate some help because this thing is too cool to just let
it die...

Well, this may help or not..the ONLY PVENGINE gpf's I get are dur to too
many or too few max trace levels (mirroring)...this may be your prob
'cos of the glass.

try fixing max trace levels to about 10..

The only good politician is a dead politician !!
Politics or religion = corruption and true evil.
Believe 1% of what you see or hear.
The laws that politicians make are mostly bad laws,
we'd do far better without them - the politicians AND their laws.

The problem you are probably encountering is called coincident surfaces.
this occurs when two surface are touch each other. When pov shoots rays
into the scene it cannot decide which surface belongs to which object. Try
scaling your "water" a little larger than it is now and you should be ok. Try
scaling it 0.001 larger.

He could be having the coinciding surface problem, but I've never heard of it
causing page faults.

It's happened to me. I had 500 abutting transparent surfaces and
and pov cracked. After fixing the dimensions it accepted what I
was trying to do.
