This is the weirdest bug I've seen yet.

I'm using Mark Gordon's Unix port of MegaPatch 0.3.
If I animate the attached file, it appears that the
eye-ray gets rotated with the sphere ?!?!

Bizarre looking effect but not quite what I wanted ;^)

Anyhow, is this bug known/fixed/unique to the unix port?
I haven't looked at the source yet, I figured that I might as
well see what folks have to say.

Cheers, PoD.

I don't see anything wrong when I render it (with my Windows compile), but
maybe I'm not looking for the right thing. What exactly do you mean by "the
eye-ray gets rotated"? Pictures in p.b.i or binaries.programming might
help.

I mean that the specular highlight, shading and reflections
rotate when the sphere is rotated.

I'll post a picture of a 4 frame animation in p.b.i
I'll also get the source from your site and try that.

Cheers, PoD.

Ok. All's clear now. This is a bug and I will fix it for MegaPov 0.4. Not
quite sure how yet, but I will fix it. For now, a workaround is available,
which is to turn off the normal bugfix by putting "#version 3.1" at the end
of your POV file. (The normal bugfix is applied during the rendering (not
parsing) phase, so changing the version at the end of the file is
sufficient.)

Doh! Still getting bitten by that damn normal bug. Even when it's fixed
:(
Thanks for the work around :)

Cheers, PoD.

There have been problems with normals since povray first came out, and
apparently there will always be...
What's the deal with normals so that it never can be completely right?-)
