Folks,
I've been working on "rebuilding" a mammoth Roman basilica off and on
over the past couple years, and one thing I haven't even dared try is
construction of a decent Corinthian capital. It's based on the Greek
corinth flower, which looks I guess a little like cabbage, sort of. Is
there some sort of L-system -based construction I could try, or should I
play around with clipped, flattened toruses?

Looking through a few image libraries, I haven't seen a thing with
anything more than a decent Ionic capital. Interest in classical
reconstructions, which seems perfectly suited for POV-Ray's
ultra-accuracy, seems largely eclipsed by the surreal. Maybe someone
can point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
Roger Twitchell

Give a try to
THE FIVE ORDERS OF CLASSICAL ARCHITECTURE by Nathan G B O'Brien (mail :
no1### [at] ozemailcomau Web page : http://www.ozemail.com.au/~no13/)

and

Keith Hull : "I've also created a columns plugin, currently it creates
Doric, Ionic,
Plain, Spiral, and Church type columns.

It's on my web page...

And may be you can post a closeup so that someone here can help you

Philippe,

Excellent. Thanks!

Right now I'm just using the spiral graphic included with Ionic5.pov in
four rows, the lower three (on a short cone) each being about 1/3rd the
size of the top one (on a cylender). The current version (the whole
basilica interior) can be seen via
http://members.aol.com/rogertiii/c_vr/c_vr.htm.

Thanks for such a quick response!
