Wait - a Poster figure?
As in, a polygon mesh??
I didn't know anybody actually uses POV-Ray for rendering polygons...

It might be quicker to write what you do know. :-P

When was the last time you visited povray.binary.images?

I'm not actually sure... but it was a very long time ago.
Depressingly, it seems the POV-Ray hall of fame still looks *exactly*
like it did all those years ago. The IRTC seems to have vanished off the
face of the Internet too... I get the impression that POV-Ray is slowly
going extinct, sadly.

That is certainly true. I'd love to see some new stuff in the HOF
myself. But I don't have the skills to create something worthy of the HOF
myself, either, nor the time to gain those skills.

IRTC was in the process of being resurrected, but I think there was a
problem with submissions/voting and the person who took it on didn't have
time to dig into it. Maybe you could look at getting involved in that to
see how it could be improved - I am pretty sure the code was made
available to anyone who wanted to help.

I have posted a link to the animation in povray.animations asking for help.

The IRTC died about five and a half years ago. St created a temporary
replacement with TC-RTC. It has been going since 2007 but it never
really caught on. The most entries it ever had was 16 from 12 people.
Now there is a core of 6 or 7 people who regularly enter and the most
prolific one does not use Pov-Ray. I fear Andrew is right and Pov-Ray is
going the way of the dinosaurs.

I do have that same fear as well, honestly.
Which is a shame, because I've been a casual user since the late 80's
(long enough to remember DKBTrace).

Heinlein? I know I read the same story.
