News via Facebook from Cousin Ricky:
Ouch. My computer fan is now fully busted, so no rendering, and the
newsgroup software won't log me in on my phone (most of the time it
wouldn't work on my computer either), so I have no way of communicating
directly with the POV-Ray community.
the suggested tool to fix the fan is unavailable on my island, and
neither of the on-line stores posted will ship here, so it's gonna be a
while before you hear from me.

Sounds like the magic smoke is gone that makes the fan work.
I doubt it would be "affordable", but maybe if I got details on the model /
specs of his fan, I could dig up one or 6 of them over here and see how much
shipping is to ... whatever island paradise he's sipping drinks on.
Maybe he can temporarily just sort of duct an exterior fan into the case for
short periods...

It is the American Virgin Islands not Jamaica. ;)

His battery was not charging either. And he seems to have forgotten that
you can use the Web view on your phone.
But then he is probably feeling as sick as a pig and not thinking straight.

Somehow, I'm not going to cry for him.
The last island I got to go to was Loon Island.
Not a word.
Not a single word, Frog-Licker.

Hmm.
Batteries are definitely known to go bad.
We have boxes upon boxes of dead laptop batteries that are destined for sale to
someone doing lithium reclamation.
We had a power outage / one leg of the 3-phase power, and when the transformer
got repaired, my work laptop wasn't charging - so it must have fried the
battery.
https://www.myus.com/vir/
looks like it's about $15/lb to ship to there.

Well I live on a large Island myself. An archipelago if you want to be
pedantic. They have problems different from living on continents.

I prefer pharmaceuticals or herb.
And in Doric (NE of Scotland dialect) a loon is a young man. As in Fit
like m' loon/quine? (How are you my young man/girl?)

They do indeed. But his laptop did not recognise his new power cable as
being a genuine Dell part. Which smells of a propriety circuit somewhere
in his machine that is goosed.

But then he would have to strip his laptop and fit it. He did say that
he was a programmer. With all that implies. ;)

[Smug face] I never joined in, in the first place. :D
I could never understand why you would want to tell everyone when you
went to the shops or the toilet. No that is twatter. ;)
OMG There is an actual site called twatter. How rude. :)

:O Stephen! That sounded _naughty_.
And on the Interwebs, no less.

Yeah, those suck.

Nope. Popped in a different battery, and it was good as used.

Well, yeah. But maybe he has helpers who could do that part for him.

But no more bonny lad (NE England dialect).
