But I bet it tasted better just because you cooked it in your oven in
your own home.

I think that buying a plain margherita then cooking it with your own toppings,
is the way to go.

I agree absolutely, but give the man a chance. He's had twenty-odd years
of being cooked at^H^Hfor. He has to start somewhere.

Of course, of course. But now it is a possibility, in the back of the mind.

Start with a plain base, then you can use BBQ sauce instead of that
tomato and oregano stuff they use :-)

Personally, I absolutely adore sushi, and make it from time to time.
(A friend of mine taught me how to.)
A couple of weeks ago I went to an actual sushi restaurant. A really
nice one. Quite expensive. I wanted to try sushis made by pros. I ordered
a plate with 8 different kinds of sushi.
I was disappointed. The majority were very bland and lacked the richness
of the kind of sushi that my friend and I make. A couple of variants were
a little better, but not much.
Of course there are several hundreds of kinds of sushi, and millions of
different sushi restaurants, and many make sushi that would put my
home-made sushi to shame, but in this particular case, it was quite
disappointing. Home-made clearly beat expensive restaurant sushi.

Do not mistake the price tag for an accurate measure of quality. ;-)
As you all know, some while ago I started baking cakes, for no
particular reason. I was quite surprised at how *good* they taste,
considering I didn't do anything particularly special. If you buy a
sponge cake from the shops, it is light and fluffy, but basically tastes
of exactly _nothing_. Whereas the cake I baked was particularly moist,
and had quite a lot of flavour for a plain sponge cake...
Come to think of it, I haven't baked anything for months. I have a
fan-assisted oven now - supposedly the best kind for baking. I should
bake something, right now!

Watch the timimg, tho'. Fan-assisted ovens tend to cook faster than
plain vanilla types.
Are we likely to see you on The Great British Bake-off soon? ;-)
