Actually, I think it's rather cruel that they advertise on the per-game page
the fact that the game you already bought is now on massive discount. :-)
You'd think they'd filter out "discount sale" on that page, but of course
they want you to tell your friends what a great game it is, especially on
discount. (Several of the games I already bought thru steam are on 75%
discount this week, it seems.)

Actually, it was in the main "what's new" pop-up window that opens each
time you start Steam. So yes, they really pushed that one in my face. *sigh*
FWIW: It's not as lame as Zero Punctuation would have you believe.
Although it's certainly not as good as the first one.

His whole shtick is finding flaws in everything he reviews. While that
can be funny and entertaining, it should definitely not be taken as best
advise for game purchases.

I find his stuff really, really amusing. And while he sounds like a
raving nutcase, he seems to be oddly insightful.
Also, it's thanks to him that I played Psychonauts. And loved it.
But certainly I wouldn't base my /entire/ opinion on what he says. For
example, I quite liked Assassin's Creed. (Although he points out several
quite valid flaws.) It's almost a pity that everyone hates it when he
says something is good. ;-)

Yeah. I think he justifies it sort of with the idea that you don't need to
know what's *good* about the game. You need to know why you'd regret
purchasing it. :-)

I find most of the "flaws" he points out to be technically speaking
accurate, but in most cases not annoying at all (especially when playing
the game for the first time, when you usually don't even notice such things).
He has an amazing talent of pointing out flaws in a very entertaining
way, though, which is why his videos are so enjoyable to watch. Not many
people have such talent.

I would agree with both those statements. At least once every two or three
videos I'm LOLing RL at his choice of words.

The vast majority of games he reviews are games I've never heard of and
will almost certainly never play. For the few games that he's reviewed
and I have actually played, I more or less agree with everything he says.
The difference is, I played Portal 2 and thought "hmm, that wasn't...
quite as fun as I was expecting". He, on the other hand, managed to
elegantly explain /why/ it's not as fun. Much better than I could have
done it, anyway.

Indeed. Where I would have said "nobody was expecting Portal to be this
popular", he said
"What you have to understand is that nobody really expected Portal to
explode the way it did. It is now approximately as popular as a YouTube
video of a laughing baby riding a startled cat."
I recently discovered Extra Punctuation, which contains gems like
http://tinyurl.com/3ldrhn6
"The Tiger
The fierce and beautiful predator of the Indian subcontinent, the
Tiger has the obvious benefits of wild unstoppable strength and
razor-sharp teeth, but also has the ability to capture control points by
widdling all over them, which has the added mixed benefit of making
every other character disinclined to stand on that control point for a
while. What the Tiger loses in long-distance attack ability it gains in
the fact that it's a fucking tiger."
That last sentence seriously made me LOL.

On a scale of one to stupid, that's Verizon math fail territory, right
there. God damned moron!
Don't you just *hate* it when you discover that you did something
utterly retarded? :-(
