FYI,

  http://www.mit.edu/~craighea/3dutil/

'This is the first beta release of 3DUtil, version 0.01. It's a basic 3D
triangle modeler that uses a winged-edge representation to ensure that models
stay clean. It uses OpenGL to do most of its rendering. Objects can have
textures on them and be placed in scenes. Scenes can either be rendered or
exported when you finish with them. You can import BMP, TGA, JPEG, and PCX as
textures, and you can export as BMP or TGA. You can export scenes as POV-Ray
scenes.'

I downloaded it, but when I try to run that program nothing happens.
Anyone else get it to run?

I just dowmloaded the program. If you mean that you can't open
the program at all I have not had that problem. If this is
true make sure you have opengl32.dll on your system. The rest
was in the download archive.

Once open on the other hand I am unsure about how to start
modeling. None of the presumed operations are functioning as
expected. The preferences dialog and options appear to work
correctly but I can't seem to get beyond that point. All of
the question marks on the tools menu is rather confusing to
say the least but when I logoff I'll give it some more time
and see if I can't figure it out somehow.

Let me know if you have any progress or tips to offer.

Why are you sending an error message (ie. text) in a binary gif format?
Once again: This is not a binary group.

Sorry. I didn't know this was cross posted in the povray.binaries.utilities

It expects to find HHCTRL.OCX, which is part of IE4.0, and the HTML Help
package (and, I assume WIN98). Is there a source for this module for those
of us currently running WIN95 w/o IE4.0?

You can find it here --
http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/author/htmlhelp/localize.asp

I contacted the programs author and he is also going to add
the file to his web page and it should be available there soon.
He also mentioned that he will be trying to get bug fixes and
improvements to the modeler on a weekly basis so check back
often.

Thanks. I poked around Microsoft's site for a while, but
apparently didn't search for the correct keywords.
