No iconic movie villains or anything here (still laughing about Trevor's Vader;
probably because I /was/ that kid back in the 70s), but I finally got the
texturing finished and all the scene elements in place.
I'm not sure about the cheesy lens flare, but here's my latest WIP.

addition works well also

It doesn't look /that/ bad ... maybe if the flare at the 6 o'clock
position was behind his arm it might sell better ... dunno

Ha ha ha!!
There is a timing movement problem however. The liquid has hardly reached
the kid and already he has reacted. Normally, there should be the lapsed
seconds between the hit and the reaction... Aw! who cares? I like this a lot
About flares... I am going to show here very soon what I am working on for
the TC-RTC. With a question about flares. Yours looks good though, but I
confess that it is a difficult thing to get really right.

Lens flare occurs at the camera lens (hence the name :-P), so it is
never hidden by any in-scene objects.
Same goes for most halos, unless they are caused by media around the
light source.

Looking pretty good. I like the POV shirt you've added in.

I have been looking at your back lighting on the chairs and was thinking at
first it was un-realistic and makes it seem like the projector is mis-aimed.
But I've been trying to find some reference images, which has been very
difficult.
One of a couple I found:
http://www.corbisimages.com/Enlargement/42-16491143.html
It does seem like there should be some backlight, though it's hard to tell how
much from this angle. I'll have to see if I maybe need to incres it a bit in
mine.

Heh, that's the same photo I used to reference the backlighting yesterday.
I wasn't really trying to be physically accurate; I didn't even have a light
back there before, just an emissive projector lens. So for the backlighting I
placed a small area light in front of the lens, in a light group with the chairs
and kids, and tried various intensities until I thought it popped enough
(artistic license and all that).
I'm making a few more tweaks including: better clothing textures, the
"projection" of the "movie" in the window glass (thanks Edouard), dialed down
lens flare, and a slightly emissive aoi cone to simulate a bit of projector beam
(although you can't see much of it from my camera angle). I'll post an updated
(final?) shot later today.
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Thomas :)
I'm guessing that either the kid heard someone behind him during a quiet moment,
or is psychic...
Here's what I'm thinking will be the final render - any critiques or criticisms
before I post to the challenge??
Thanks!

Maybe it's too dark, maybe too bright - hard to say for sure :(
After many hours of tweaking and monitor calibrations and looking at it on other
people's non-calibrated monitors, etc., I've decided this will have to do as the
final shot.
Regardless, now I can get back to my TC-RTC photography image, I still have a
couple of weeks!
Cheers,
Rob
