Yes, I thought of him too!  He had an amazing high heel series. :)

Mine is very much less detailed, but it's supposed to be just part of a 
larger scene and a cartoony one at that... I'll probably work on that 
before getting back and adjusting the slippers...

Just polygons and subdivision surfaces.  Started with a plane (quad) 
scaled and loop cut it until getting quite a few lateral vertices that I 
moved around a bit until getting it to take the form of a foot.  Then 
extruded it up to give it some volume, extruded again the top faces and 
scaled them a bit so as to leave border faces, which I them selected and 
extruded up and pushed edges here and there until for the front and 
back.  Later I pushed the back faces up with some proportional editing 
on to give the high heel height. :)  And then, extruded the bottom to 
make the heel proper (too bulky in this one, got that a bit better 
later).  Lots of minor tweakings too...

oh my!  Now I feel an urge to try to reproduce that! :D

Looks beautiful indeed.  Though kinda bizarre seeing a shoe among 
fruits... :P

povray + photons caustics and refractive color dispersion ("rainbow")...

I was supposed to begin the ladders, but thanks to Jim and the following 
link, I did not. :)

I felt like emulating it. Recreated from scratch, using the experience 
with the previous model to avoid a few pitfalls. Failed to capture the 
subtleties of the rough glass material and bumps, but in my opinion, 
perfect smooth glass looks much better anyway...

And let's admit, glass slippers are a tremendous must to showcase a 
raytracer. It's refractive and reflective, got deliciously curvy surface 
and it's not as hard to create as, say, a car...

48 minutes on a Q6600, most of it spent on the front, which folds upon 
itself and receives all those caustics and refractive dispersion...
