The fronds are solid meshes. The individual leaves come from the applied
image_map with an alpha channel.

The palm models are part of the "Lisa's Botanicals" at DAZ:

Thanks, Rob, for the information about the fronds. I looked closely at them
again. They're dead on, with the appearance of random deformities in
individual leaves. Their placement on the side of the image, in close-up, is a
very effective way of highlighting the detailed accuracy.

I also like the presence of the lace curtains behind the windows, which gives an
additional feeling of depth.

Just some meshes edited in Moray :-)
I have no particular skill at it.

that noria_martin scene is damn good-looking! :)

the only criticism is that the palm tree trunks should be slightly curved. The
leaves are great, though!

Thank you :)

The date trees I saw (only photographs) had a rather straight trunk.
Mine have a slight turbulence but not very visible there.
Palms are better seen from distance. I recently noticed a palm finger
orientation problem.
I'm trying to understand my own code right now but it is dirty and made with
a lot of try/error process.
I use functions I don't understand well. I'm struggling with vector 3D
rotations around 3D rotated axis.

hmm, most seen here have curved trunks:

There are, after all, MANY different varieties of palm trees. Date
palms have straight trunks, coconut palms have curved trunks, for two
examples.

For a slight change-of-subject, there was a unique palm tree in the area
where I live (Ventura, California) which was a local landmark. This
tree had been damaged early in its life and the top part of the trunk
had fallen over. But it continued to live and recovered by continuing
to grow upward. It looked something like this:

\|/
  |__
     |
     |
     |
     |
     |

It survived like this for many years (50+ I think), but was finally
killed a few years ago in a bad winter storm.

More trivia: the street where this tree was located was named Crooked
Palm Road.

Version 2 with better textures and small tweaks.
