Me too! Perhaps it was different behavior of the filter/transmit on
textures,
but I didn't have time to investigate it...

Janet's nice apples reminded me of one I did some time ago, and since I
haven't posted anything here for months now I thought I'd share it :)
Modeled in JPatch (www.jpatch.com), texture procedural POV.
Hope you like it!

Oh, I polished 'em up real good first. :)
Blender is a blast once you figure out how to use it. It takes a while. I'm
still pretty crappy at it. There's usually more than one way to model an
object, and usually the first way isn't the right way (but that's just my
experience). If you do try it, get the latest version, it has a much better
..OBJ exporter.

That is a nice one. The apple texture on the big render is excellent.

Those are beautiful apple textures; nice work!
I think the lights may be just a bit too bright (or the highlights are), and
are slightly washing out the great texture.
*Some day* I'll try and learn to uv-map :-(

Crikey, ain't that the truth. It took me most of a weekend to scale the
overhang at the bottom of the Blender learning curve, and all my gear kept
falling out and then I had to go back because I'd forgotten my safety line!
;-)
However, once you've got the hang of it it's quite powerful. My problem was
that I try to learn all new software by inspecting the menu systems - and
Blender's interface is keyboard-biased. The documentation is very helpful!
I like them apples, by the way...

How true! My safety line dropped several times in the abyss! Oh well, I
really should start one day reading that documentation...

Lovely apples Janet. I want to bite them to the core... ;)

The textures are maybe a bit washed out to begin with. Oh well.

Its not so hard to learn. UVMapper is a good program, and free.

Ha ha, I like your description. Mine would tend more towards the psychotic
side. When I decided to learn Blender, someone told me I should do the
"Gus" tutorial. Let's just say that "Gus" is not my friend any more. (But
seriously, its a good tutorial to go through).

Yes, read, read, do tutorials...read...
The spacebar IS the menu system, really.

Glad you like 'em, Bill. :)
