Here's a test render of my first real use of posable humans. It's Aiko3,
posed in Daz Studio, with some freebie hair and clothes (such as they are!)
I found on the net. She's on a slant because the whole platform is on a
slant; this image is a detail from a much larger scene. All will become
clear when I've finished it!

It's definately looking good. I enjoy seeing Poser figs rendered in Povray.

Hi!

I also tried something with humans. But I cannot export really good to 
POV-Ray, and I unfortunatelly don't have figures like "Aiko" and the others.

Here I just made some fun posings, on top of a tower of an anceint Roman 
galley (ship still to be developed - I would need help).

The Aiko, Victoria and Michael figures are free from DAZ
(http://www.daz3d.com/) at the moment. You need to register to download
(also free).

As for converting, I used PoseRay without really changing any settings,
pretty easy really. Just load the .obj file, ignore all the warnings,
export to POV files only (..._geom.inc and ..._mat.inc), and then look in
the "..._mat.inc" file to see what image maps etc it wants.

What happened to all your normals? Those guys are lookin somewhat angular!

Be reassured, this is indeed intended for knotworld! This lovely lady will
be gazing out over the surreal vista... I'd always intended to have some
sort of people in the finished product, so it seemed a good time to take a
break and learn how to use Daz Studio. She's a bit overkill for how
prominent she'll be in the final image (a 17MB mesh2 include for one tiny
figure in the corner of the screen! Eek!) but I'll do some detail closeups
in addition to the main image.

Progress on the knots is slow because I'm having trouble with my brickwork,
and it takes over an hour for a test render even with the simplest scene
settings (~30mins parsing!). I've finished texturing it now, so there's
just some small details to be added, some small bugs to be ironed out, some
random seeds to be juggled and then I can start the pretrace. And then...

Watch this space, as they say. :)

mad-scientist experiment on harming defenceless humans...
