Short answer: image_pattern with color_map. I'll try to post the source code
this weekend. Thanks for your critique.

Hey Richard,
Short is good. I'm sure others will find the code useful. I got my first
glimpse of POV years ago. Never did much with it except render the included
files. Found it again just recently and trying to give it a go.

Your subject is looking good. Of course I don't what you envision for your
final image. Might be good to compose your subject a little. Give it a home.
Wooden stool and scattered hay on the floor come to my mind. Window. Keep it
up.
Later,
Kenneth Hutson

Can't give you any advice but I can say:

WOW! Very impressive work!

I'm experimenting with daylighting my subject now. I first tried an area
light in a window, but it occurred to me that a very bright sky_sphere plus
radiosity would give more realistic results. I searched, and it seems this
technique has been posted and documented. Additionally, there's an
incandescent light nearby, generated with Lightsys IV (Thanks, Jaime).
Lighting is hard, I've decided. Thanks for the encouragement, those who
have written. I will post the source when I'm satisfied with it.
Richard

Hi
It is getting better and better!
Some suggestions if you want.
You could brighten your sky_sphere again, it seems too faint against
incandescent light.
It makes me feel a very heavily cloudy (or masked by a building) sky.$

And what about a render with anti_aliasing?
You could do a pretrace without AA, save a radiosity data file and load it
for final trace with AA and better resolution.
See "Dummy radiosity" on Jaime Vives Piqueres' site for this technique, if
you don't know it of course. :-)

Thanks, Marc.
You're right; The daylight is still too dim. I'll try what you've
suggested. The AA and save-load trick will definitely be a part of my
final. The AA threshold has to be microscopic to show those strings.

OK..here's the final image. The source is in the scenes binaries. The
world outside the window is a post-processing photomontage, which is
cheating, I know. The painting is one of my mother's. Thanks for the
critiques!

Wow .. looks fantastic .. except .. the outside vertical doesn't match
the inside vertical ..

Is the outside laid in in photoshop? or is it something else? however
it's in there, the fence palings need to be at a similar angle to the
window frame (or use a camera that leaves your verticals vertical.
There's one around here someplace ..)

Cheers!

Busted!! Yes, you are correct. It's laziness. Best solution would be for me
to actually finish the scene without the Photoshop stuff.
