I've decided to render my own room. It's still a long way from
completion. Most of the textures will be replaced. Many objects have
yet to be fully modeled, and some objects aren't even in the scene at
all yet. I think I'll try placing an image map outside the window with
an  actual view photographed from my actual window. For the moment,
it's just a blue sky and a featureless green plane.

This is my first image with light fading and radiosity. I'd especially
like to hear comments about the lighting or radiosity effects. Any
suggestions on how to make the image as realistic as possible are
greatly welcome. (On that note, I should add that some of the coloring
chosen here is just for test, and there won't be those odd spheres
sitting on the table in the final image.)      :)

Good work so far.  Dosn't look like there's a decent spot for a computer
in there unles you have it on the table in the middle, and the ceiling
appears to be at an angle to the top of the door.  I think I can guess
where the sterio goes.

I like the wallpaper.  Can I have a look at your ceiling texture?  I posted
a bunch of pictures of a kitchen (Lamp Shade and Cousin of Lamp Shade) about
4 months ago, but I never got my ceiling to look that good.

There isn't a decent spot for much of anything in my room.  :) 

Actually, the computer goes on the "desk" on the right. The makeshift
table in the middle of the room is supported by short book shelves at
each end of the tabletop. (The shelves have yet to be rendered, and
the textures of the bookshelves yet to be chosen.)

It's also that way in real life. I have a sloped ceiling.

The stereo also goes on the "desk" on the right. A rather large
subwoofer is hidden in the closet in the far corner. (This hasn't been
rendered yet.)

There is still a lot of objects to add, but I thought I would share my
efforts so far. Thanks for the comments. It helps encourage me to
finish this.    :)

Sometimes...      :)

Well, those spheres were just for the sake of having *something* on
the tabletop. In real life, I do have a clear quartz sphere, but it is
smaller, and isn't usually left sitting on the table. In the final
render, these spheres won't be included. (In fact, they probably won't
make it to the next version.)

Thanks. The textures are fairly basic POV-Ray textures. At your
request, I posted the ceiling texture to povray.text.scene-files. I
should add that it probably won't look very good unless you are using
the light fading and radiosity features of Mega-POV 0.4 for the
rendering. One little disappointment for me, was seeing the texture
rendered at 6,144 x 4,096. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold up very well
at high magnification.

  Hi, Glen. Consider rounding off the edges of the bed (mattress). It
may actually have a radiused edge but it isn't apparent enough. Maybe
disturbing the perfectly flat surface would help as nobody makes a bed
like this in real life unless you're in the military <s>.

  The ceiling texture looks good as is - I would keep it.
