Here is my incomplete IRTC entry for the Steampunk/Time round. I got distracted
and lost interest, but I may as well share it. It's about 1/2 done. I intended
to add a lot of details to the clockwork portion itself, and well as fill out
the scene and background with clutter.
All geometry is CSG/Isosurface
Liberal use of the Edouard's DF3 prox macro for texturing
The description was going to focus on the idea of Father Time doing some
maintenence

Amazing!
Even if it's just half-completed, to me it's definitely HOF-quality
already. Detailed modelling, excellent texturing, convincing lighting,
and a great concept besides.
If you want my advice, /do/ submit it (you still got two hours left or
so) - even in this state it has all the qualities for a winning entry,
or at least technical merit.
You really /must/ make the scene file available, so we can "borrow" all
the materials from it...!

Wow, that really is a great shot already - I hope you took Christoph's advice!
And ditto about the materials, awesome work!

That's A.R. quality! ...the metals are incredible, the focal blur just
perfect, and the touch of the lens is amazing. To not talk about all that
CSG work... better you didn't finish it: no one would believe it was CG.

That's a fantastic render - it would easily have competed with the other entries
even as it! Really, really nice.

Wow - glad it's been useful for you. I'm actually kind of honoured that several
people with obviously more time and talent than myself have been able to get
some use from it!
Cheers,
Edouard.

I was thinking that it would be cool to have a library of textures that can be
used with the various proximity patterns out there. I've got a few simple
textures, but, as this render shows, there are some really great ones being
used.
Cheers,
Edouard.

Maybe the wood is not perfect (realistically).
But everything else is great!

I'm really impressed, nice work, good accuracy, bad that PovRay's focal
blur malfunctioning with HDRI.

What do you mean, "focal blur malfunctioning with HDRI"?

The grainy effect in the background on the metallic material...
