The java code is mine. It is without coloring and can be found at
http://madonion.homeip.net/attractors/

Very mathemagical.

I've set it as my work wallpaper and it's fabulous! On some computer I
can't have a better resolution than 1024x768 and the image is still
centered and I can't see the 'strange' circle, which I like very much
and on some other computer I get a 1280x1024 perfect bg image which is
different and also very nice!
I was wondering... the 'strange' screensaver used to animate the
attractors you have been rendering... could you animate it also?

Thanks :) I'm glad you liked it.

Actually I'm working on some kind of animation right now... I'll leave it
overnight working... tomorrow I'll check what was the result :)

I really do. Is there some website where attractors are described in
detail? I've seen many differents by now (the Lorenz one being the first
:), but I've never found a source which could explain me the theory
behind it :(

This can help visualise a 2-D arrangement (OK - so it is part of a
spherical surface).
As a boy, one distraction was to hang a bar magnet vertical on a 0.5
or 1 metre string about 5 cms above the floor/table. 1 or more bar
magnets (or steel bolts) were then placed on the floor/table near this
pendulum which was then set swinging.
A variation was to use a glass table as base, a small torch taped to
the cord and place a camera (long exposure) below the magnets.

Tor Olaf Kristensen posted the following:
//Just in case anyone is interested in a free online versions of a book
//about "Strange Attractors":
//
//http://sprott.physics.wisc.edu/sa.htm
//
//"Strange Attractors: Creating Patterns in Chaos (ISBN 1-55851-298-5)"
//by Julien C. Sprott
I downloaded the pdf version and read it partially. It describes the concepts
behind these attractors very clearly. Note that the attractor Fernando posted
uses different equations:
x2 = sin(a*y1) - cos(b*x1)
y2 = sin(c*x1) - cos(d*y1)
