I don't get it. If you can use the object pattern to generate a df3 you
can also use it directly for the media.

The great thing about povray is that there are often many ways of doing
things, each of which may have its uses.

Sure, none the less a different method might be more efficient or lead to
better results. In this case it could be that even if you decide to use a
df3 for some reason it might be a good idea to use the object pattern
directly for test renders since it does not require precalculations.

You're probably right but as I've never used the object pattern it's going
to take some time to work out how to use it!

In fact, further testing reveal that meshes cannot be used with the object
pattern because they're not solid...

Even if you use 'inside_vector'?

Yes, it stops and returns a message saying more or less what is said in the
docs, i.e., there's either a texture or it's a patch or another non-solid
object. Too bad :(, but slicing meshes with a proper inside_vector works, so
it's not so terrible.

Will be changed in next MegaPOV as well as mesh support in inside()
function.

Hi Gilles

Ah well, at least you've saved me some time! I was going to play with object
pattern today.

Thanks ! More mesh support in POV-Ray is alway welcome.
