It looks great.

I think real paper would shine more, even with this dim light. Also if you
made it translucent, well, that'd be great. It'd look even better if you
wrote the notes on the notebook by yourself (you could scan your writing or
just use a tablet). The overall scene looks a bit too clean. You could add
some scratches to the table and things like that.
Keep up the great work.

I know. I'd lose those nice light-/shadowbeams,
though I've still got to run the arealight through the
media to get the shadows of the clouds. Kinda
difficult, I guess, and probably really intensive to
trace... Got to make some trials, but I'm stuck at the
table for now, and then want to work on the texture
for the window-frame.

@Rick & Greg:

The original scene-file had following lines at the
beginning:

"Sitting lonely at his desk, Nick marvelled at the
complexity of the world he could see in the bowl.
And he wondered, if one can grasp "real life"
at all, if such a tiny environment can't be
fully understood..."

Its about a comparison, not a recursion. But
I might find a way to add a subtle "stick" to
the moon...

Regards,
Tim

That might be an idea. But unless I want the paper to be see-through, I'd
have to do some more modelling on the pages to get some
subsurface-scattering
like effects. Light should pass through, but you shouldn't be able to see
through. Any ideas?

Thats kinda difficult to do on an already blurred-normal map (averaging
textures), but some other dirt might be in.

I intend to.
