How about this:
He began writing the note, trashed it, added a sentence,
trashed it again, added the last note, threw pen away,
took pills while sobbing (thus the the few remaining pills,
he dropped them), put the glass on the note, so that it won't
fly away.
I wasn't too comfortable with the idea that he just writes his
note and leaves, so I made the paper wrinkled, as if he
was pondering about this a long time, even though some lines
were already written.
Perhaps if I'd made the first line a little more gray, rather
than black, it would appear to be older, bleached out,
and then everything would fit?
Simply put, I didn't want this image to be purely realistic,
but also a little desolate, untidy. The person is just lost
in chaos.
Its meant to be a little more expressionistic rather than 100%
realistic.

One bit of criticism:
It's easy to tell that the person wrote the note with a word processor,
and not that pen... All the o's look the same.

What about the d's then? No.. It's alright with me, as this is CG art.. But
I'm not convinced about the glass.. Even though you added water drops, which
is a nice touch.

I didn't understand this from what I saw. Sorry, my fault.
Still, I'm not sure that it adds anything to the image, but
that's just my blurred view.
Perhaps I hadn't mentioned it, but I do like the image.

Remco

>So, comments?
Yes, paper, once crumpled up never gets that flat again, the corners and
sides tend to roll up and it wouldn't be sitting that flat on the table.
Also, a tear on the paper could help with the mental image of the
person's thoughts.

I gather that constructive criticism is mostly a point of view
which conveys that the overall image does look acceptable,
but that some minor/major changes might be of better effect.
Simply put: Thanks! :-)

You know, art always has this problem that some are thinking:
What the f***!? (although you didn't sound THAT frustrated),
and there's always this issue about what the artist wants to
say vs. what a viewer thinks.
Nontheless, was a nice and short discussion, well on-topic, so
its all some just very human. :-)

Tim

So, I've just finished putting all things together, traced
the image once again (with larger Name-Imprint and
to get the actual rendering time: 6h + 2min + 54sec),
wrote the accompanying text-file and added a
PNG without the Name-Imprint (as someone with
the code would be able to trace it) to the ZIP.
I'll send it away along with my other image, when that
one is finished...
Regards,
Tim
