I made throne from isowood. It was possible when I added some extensions to
Christoph Hormann's IsoWood Include File. If there is any person interested with
turning-lathe addition I must consult original author first. Also I must noticed
that there are some random artefacts on pictures contained isowoodsurfaces (for
example black line on the right foot in front view). They appear randomly and
sometimes eat even half of object. I don't know what is the reason - iso-engine,
orthographic camera, hot air or included files.

BTW: scene contains 70 isos, arelight 2x2, took 23 min to render and was
designed with my modeling enxiroment include file

Artefacts in isosurfaces are often a sign of insufficient max_gradient.
In the IsoWood include you can change this with 'CH_Wood_ISOmaxgrad'.

It looks good, but the surfaces seem perfectly smooth while the include
file was made for structured surfaces. As it is now, using isosurfaces is
fairly unnecessary.

And of course i would like to see that extension you made for the include
file.

even with CH_Wood_ISOeval=yes ?

I have tried this throne with no bumps and it looks diffent. I prefer isowood
version :-)

I noticed that it is easier for me to model such object with isowoods than with
promitives.

Of course. After moment in your box :-)

No, but what maximum gradient does it print out?

Have you tried increasing the strength parameter, just to see how a
'rougher' version looks like?

Got it, thanks, the variable radius idea is very useful, will probably add
that to the next version, but don't expect it very soon.

In range from 0.8 to 76.
The problems with artefacts is strange for me becouse they appear randomly -
I've rendered scene yesterday evening at home and today morning at work. At home
were artefacts but at work no. No modifications in source file were done.

Yes. Current value (0.01) was choosed experimentaly. Larger value could be
comfortless for sitting :-)

Don't forget idea sended by me to p.b.i as photo some time ago.

Hmm, 76 seems fairly high for such shapes, are you sure all the functions
used are smooth? You can also try to play with the eval parameters.
Randomly occuring artefacts are of course quite strange, but since the
current isosurface code is known to be buggy, anything is possible...

Raising the accuracy value could also help.

Hey, we are talking about art, comfort is negligible...

Don't remember and could not find a photo from you either, could you point
me to it?

Very cool throne! It _almost_ looks like it _might_ be comfortable,
too...

There is if() in arm function but it should join smothly - perhaps some accuracy
of calculation creates "jump" on surface.

I use eval on every trace.

I'll try

But I can't say this to my modeled king ;-)

It can't be comfortable becouse of rounded arm - there is no flat place for
elbow.
"Fortunately" my king is armless

I meant the optional 3d vector following eval. See the megapov docs for
explanation.
