Seems someone asked about icicles and now I can't locate the message.
Anyway, here's a render of some. I should use them in a real scene I
suppose. Do they look okay, not okay, or other? Please do comment if you
want too.

If someone really was wanting such a thing please speak up, I'll be making
changes to this in the meantime. I think other people must have done plenty
of this sort of thing before as well.

Looks good, maybe add some variation in size and come icing apart from the
icicles themselves.

How about an universal macro for automatic icicling(?) of buildings etc.?

They look very chilly, so they are OK. I have seen a lot of them, so I
should know! And I also know you had better not melt them on top of a
hot burning stove :)

They look very ok. Only change I'd make (besides variance in size) is
the sharpness - real icicles are a bit round on the sharp end. Quite
close to the size of a waterdrop, for obvious reasons :-).

Yeah ... I did somewhere . . . ?
I'd be interested in what you use to form them ... also the texture.
Looks like you've got some light shining through . . . photons ???

I love ice . . . any code for textures or ideas will be most welcome.
tnx

depends on whether it's adding ice or melting . . . I often take the large
ones off my eaves and stick them upside down around my bird feeder . . .
make for a nice light show and as they melt, the tip becomes needle thin.
(not all that much to do in Winter in da UP, eh?)

When I get it into a macro I'll post it at p.t.s-f.
It's all one blob, media filled, and photons using Nathan's
color-dispersion-for-light-source macro, which didn't show up really in this
one.

Somewhat explosive huh? Could be from trapped air if so.

Yep, doing that. It's been proving a slow creation from media and photons
though since I keep wanting to see it as it should finally be.

Because I'm not a miracle worker with POV-Ray macros I think not.

I've managed to get rounded tips but I'd say the media is too much in this
one, noticeably bluish too. The far right icicle is washed out like before,
must be the closer alignment with camera and light with the specular
highlighting shining so much. Doesn't look too good.
The lengths are all the same still so when I have that fixed I'll post the
pov script, I'm so close already might as well finish it. Slow as I may be.
