Put the blame on Sander, John VanSickle and Wlodzimierz ABX Skiba,
they wake up my interest to paving the plane with regular figures...
So here are 14 tiling, My only problem is that I have no good name for
them, so if you want to suggest any name, you're welcome.
I have still 6 others to do before going back into lurk mode again,
waiting quietly for the 3.5...

This looks very useful, where did you place the code :~) I could use it
very well and it could teach me a thing or 2...

I'll take risk too for getting blamed and ask: how about other,
not-so-regular shapes? Have you seen this paper?
http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/csk/tile/escherization.html
Hopfully this will not allow you to be in quiet mode and lurk! And we
will enjoy fruits of your work;-)

I will release the code when I've finished the 6 others
(now, only 5 to still go) and when I have decent names for them
(currently, the names are in french, and are too undescriptive
[such as 'carrelage_carre_rectangle' or 'carrelage_6_3'];
the only worst naming I could have would be "something_1","something_2",
"something_3" and so on.

I was only going to make some 'classical' tiling, with regular convex shapes
(such as triangles, square, hexagon, dodecagon).
I will probably add the L shape tiling ( only in 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4) that start
your suggested paper and the pentagon+lozenge found on another one.
So thanks you, there is now 9 tiling to finish before the code became
available... :-)

I'm innocent ;-)

What about something like RegularTile1, RegularTile2, RegularTile3 etc...
Perhaps you can also look at Mathematical Classification of Tessellations
(http://library.thinkquest.org/11750/eschpage/MathClass1.html) for inspirations
for good names.

I'm waiting for the same with code of http://abx.art.pl/pov/escher/escher1.jpg
http://abx.art.pl/pov/escher/escher2a.jpg
http://abx.art.pl/pov/escher/escher3.jpg and

The first and second seem to have a simple rectangular unit cell, so
they should be simple to do :)
I could be wrong, though.

Why did you include "03", which is merely a sheared form of "00"?

Some have standard symbols:
00	4^4
01	6^3
02	3^6
06	4.8^2
07	3^3.4^2
08	3.6.3.6 = (3.6)^2

04 is known to quilters as Baby Blocks.
09 is similar to the existing "bricks" pattern.

Well, just because it use a lozenge instead of a square. It may have an
impact on the joint (And moreover, I do not know how to make a shear).

Do you have any reference ?
I found some naming for regular and repeating VERTEX:
00 is 4.4.4.4
01 is 6.6.6
02 is 3.3.3.3.3.3
06 is 8.8.4
and so on.

There seems to be no convention on what the ordering should be :
 8.8.4 can also be 4.8.8

But evenm more there is some other regular and repeating vertex which are
problematic:
the 6.3.3.3.3 can be either left-handed or right-handed.
(Ok, it's the only one, and it's not yet implemented in my code, but it does not
help
to have a meaningfull naming :-).

Last point, I thing the "." as well as "^" are illegal for token in the pov
parser,
so at best, it may be replaced with "_"

Anyway, this naming scheme would only cover part of the problem.

No, the bricks is a 3D pattern, with some 'amusing' (not) effects in the third
dimension.
These new patterns are only 2D : the third dimension is always ignored :->.
