OK, lost the clutter, added a rainbow or two (dude, I like the Rainbow
feature. I'll have too play around more with that. :) ) Narrowed the
laser, rotated the Auto-cannon so the laser fades out within the frame.
I like it. I've got another render running right now with some fixes
and modifications to this. Just thought you guys would like to see it.
Enjoy!

Nice image, but... uh, what are the lasers shooting at? If they are
shooting at all? It doesn't seem to be any boogies there. That is my
conclusion since all the objects in the scene looks like have emerged
from the same kind of technology/culture.
If they are shooting at something, perhaps you should add a dark,
foreboding creature/spaceship of some kind. Alien to the inhabitants of
this obvious water planet?
If the laser is a ranging or measurement kind of thingybob ... never
mind that I asked... :-)
Merely just a suggestion...

I've really enjoyed watching this image progress over the past few week, but
I have to say that adding the little drones with the lasers is a real step
backwards. Apart from cluttering up the image, they don't seem to fit with
the atmosphere of the floating fortress. What are they shooting at? Why are
they there? They might work in the scene if they were doing something else,
such as trying to catch some local fauna or flora, and had a little more
detail in sympathy with the blimps and the fortress, but as they are I think
they detract from the image.
That said, this is still a stunning piece of work! I think the rainbow is a
nice touch.
Cheers,
Ian.

Well, the little piggie things don't seem to fit (unless you are adding
a sea serpent). Are they pig aliens come to destroy drops of water with
their death lasers?
If they were more carnivouristic, more sharklike, they could be seen as
comming out of the abyss to attack the evil floating interlopers, but as
piggies they look like automatic waste receptacles.
That's it! They are zapping all those floating cigarette butts.

Guys! The lasers are for targeting purposes only! the actual "firing" part
are the four rotation barrels around the laser! They're not shooting at
anything, but just on guard duty. Sheesh.
As for explosions, nope. I've done too many of those already. :)
Basically, the base is on full alert. Why? Think about it. :)

If the lasers are for targeting purposes, make them much narrower, so that
they are almost invisible. Right now, they're solid enough to appear to be
weapons.
My person opinion of this version: Keep the rainbow, ditch the flying pigs.

I agree. The rainbows are gorgeous.
The drone things just confuse the image, as you can see by all of us who
thought they were firing lasers (including me!). They also detract from the
fortress, which is a shame because it's sooo nice :)

Personally I don't think the pig-lasers fit the scene. Actually I find them
quite disruptive. To be honest, I like the earlier ones better, very
uncluttered, bit darker, more ethereal. Hey, your scene though.
As for the rainbow, I think it could add to the scene, but right now I think
it's too bright, too RBGish. I'd maybe change the angle a bit and make it
thinner. It would be a great effect if it 'blended' more with a kind of
shimmer - ya know that faint elusive glassy band you get playing with the hose
or at a waterfall at the right angle. The one at far left corner is good.

:::sigh::: Well, if you want to get technical, wouldn't the "targeting"
lasers be almost completely invisible?
