This is an incomplete render, but the bottom hasn't changed much, so I'm going
ahead and posting it.

The moss underneath the pipe is coming along marvelously. There seems
to be a seam in the stones just behind the fireball-thingie.

Thanks.

Yeah, that's a join between the curve outward and the curve inward. Very
hard to get rid of (ie, I don't know how just yet)

I agree, the moss is much better. However I am confused by the radar/satellite
dish. I this a high or low tech society? Maybe something else should be added to
make it one or the other.

Keep at it, it looks great,
Bob

Loving the picture a lot, working on something similar myself.. how did you do the
brick texture? I've been trying to accomplish an effect like that for ages.

Well, that's always a question, isn't it. On the one hand, there are things
like the satellite dish and the control panel. There are medium tech things
like the piping and the maching in the shadows on the left. On the other,
all the tech is rusting and/or decaying while the castle itself is mostly
pristine.

To be honest, I'm not sure what's going on here. I've just been following
my muse. If you must, you can chalk it up to an attempt to be 'evocative'
;)

The blocks are ~14000 isosurfaces, arranged by an algorithm I wrote myself
after been unhappy with the mur.inc (it doesn't scale well, and there are
glitches) The textures are done on a stone by stone basis (well, stones
above the pathway have a common texture at the moment, but that might
change), based on position and random factors. All in all, it's a real
memory hog, and slow as well, but the effect is, I think, worth the time.
All I can say is Thank the Heavens for PVMegapov. :/

Well, hiding was tried. I put a pipe in with more spewage like under the
rightmost tower, but it didn't work well, and looked a bit odd with the
glow. I'm trying to put in an observation deck, to see if that works any
better. My test renders aren't bad, but I'm not totally happy yet.

The other option is to try to cut blocks out of one side and add them to the
other in some organic fashion. Probably more than I want to deal with.

Just position some blocks by hand over the seam - a little bit "outside the
wall". As there is no easy visible pattern in your stones, you are quite
free in choosing them. And the curvature is at zero at that seam anyway, so
you won't have to deal with some fancy bricks - rounded boxes should do.
Or do I miss something essential?
