The progress of my character "AL the Alien" is slow and steady.
He has now got some feet (yes, he didn't have feet before!).
I have also changed his clothes. What do you think of it?
Several people have pointed out to me that "AL the Alien" looks very similar
to Victor Navone's alien "Blit Wizbok". I have tried to change the look of
AL to avoid this. Have I succeeded, or does AL still look too similar to the
other alien?
There's still a *lot* of work to do; I'm no where near finished - But I
think it's going in the right direction...
All feedback is very welcome!

Can I put this on the page,
10best.raytrace.com/gregtest/tracinstyles.html
as a good example of "characters"?

He's great, I wish I had the patience to create characters like this but CSG
drives me nuts!

I don't like having WIPs exhibited, but if it's only temporary, and it won't
get on the CD or anything, then I don't see any problem with it. You have my
permission.
Just a thought - I would also find it a logical choice under the style "3D
Toon".

I think that as long as he is shaped and colored the same basic way,
the resemblance will always be strong. You could try giving him
dark green spots, or scales, or something.

Ouch, I hope there's another way...
Well, the colours of the clothes are different, and the shape is also a
little different, but maybe not enough.
To make it easier to compare I have attached an image with Blit Wizbok to
the left and AL the Alien to the right. (just hope copyright isn't a
problem!)
Thanks for your feedback.

Well, maybe I'll convert him into a mesh eventually. CSG isn't very flexible
for organic animation.

I wouldn't worry about it, there are enough significant differences. I mean,
how dissimilar can two cartoony 3D green aliens look, anyway.

I don't think you have much to worry about...they have almost the exact
same "feel" to them, but their bodies and heads are obviously different.
However, if you ignore the fact that one has twice the eyes of the
other, who has a funny growth on a stalk at the top of his head, they
could be related...maybe just say he is Wizbok's cousin. :-)
BTW, "Blit Wizbok" sounds Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy-ish...
